The Changes that Come with Cancer with Dr. Sagar Shah

Dr. Sagar Shah is a general dentist in the Bay Area. He was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma in May 2020 at the height of the pandemic and lockdowns. He is currently in remission and has started an Instagram page called myheadisacanvas, where he uses his chemo-induced baldness as a canvas for paintings and art pieces done by his wife. Sagar earned his DDS from NYU College of Dentistry.
In this episode, Sagar shares how his life changed after being diagnosed with cancer during the pandemic. He describes the emotional and mental toll the disease took on his career and his perspective on life. He explains why having Stage IV cancer is not a death sentence and how he has prepared for the worst-case scenario. Sagar also discusses how he and his wife coped with his diagnosis, the creativity that came out of it, and the advice he would give dentists for their health and their practice.
"Cancer, in a lot of ways, has political connotations in a sense that it's a random disease." - Sagar Shah

Checks and Balances

I always enjoy listening to the podcast. The information helps me assess what I am doing currently in my practice and helps me make changes as I hear new ideas. It also makes me feel great to know I’m doing similar things: it’s like a think-tank at my fingertips. I also appreciate the need to constantly evolve my dental practice while maintaining my office culture/identity (and it’s okay to change it BTW)! You guys always have great insight into this part of the BUSINESS. Last thing, when is 3D dentists doing a class on 5-axis milling? I’m ready!

Tbone and 3D Delivers

I’ve been a listener of the podcast since 2nd yr of dental school and now in my 4th yr of practice. I can say that Tbone and his 3D staff is doing a great service to the profession of dentistry. I recently attended the Printing course and had a private lesson (crashed the party) from Tbone himself and it was more than what I bargained for. Thank you Tbone, Meridith, Sully and the rest of the staff for a great course and podcast! Im looking forward to the ortho, mastermind and hands on course. I can tell you it’s already changed the course of my career!
