Funny movie breakdowns

I really appreciate a few things about these guys.

1) They are clearly big fans of the films. You can tell they actually have seen them and have loved them for years. Unlike the Now Playing podcast where (although I admit those guys are funny) most of the horror movies they review they have never seen. I mean come on!!

2) They actually watch the films and give live comments. I love that. Some of the other podcasts of this nature get into the weeds on super nerdy side topics. It’s a bit much sometimes. We are fans because of the films. So I really appreciate that you guys watch them and find ways for me to love them cheesiness and all!

3) Y’all are funny. I appreciate that you are clearly huge fans but you don’t ignore some of the awful effects, acting, editing, rush jobs we have been spoon fed like some spaghetti a la Seven. Other F13 podcasts just kiss up to the series which is silly. I mean c’mon guys I love these movies but they are cheesy and over the top. That’s why we love them! Thanks for the humor. I listen to these in public places on my headphones when I’m waiting or on the bike at the gym and have laughed out loud more than a few times!

Great Bloody Fun

I’ve been a listener of this podcast almost since it’s inception and have never been disappointed by the upbeat and energetic discussions from the hosts. While this podcast does critique the films in question, it is far closer to spending an evening with friends than any sort of formal review.

In fact, it was this podcast that introduced me to a variety of 80’s slashers I’d never seen before (Happy Birthday to Me, The Burning, Black Christmas, Sleepaway Camp). When I saw the (then new) episodes up, I made it a point to see the films prior to listening and I can easily say they have never steered me wrong in quality horror.

That said, the staple of this cast is Friday (surprise given the title, right?). I love how the hosts go back and revisit the films over time (either for anniversaries or the like). It never gets old hearing the guys laugh, mock, and love this evergreen (or Forest Green if you prefer) franchise.

If I had one complaint, it’s that the episodes can be few and far between. Understandable, given their schedules, but it would be nice to get a bit more Vince and Christian throughout the year. Then again, if your only complaint is that you want more, they must be doing something right.
