Episode 232 - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Episode 232 - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

We're back with the second installment in our summer 2024 series, and we're returning to another legacy franchise, but not one that we were expecting to return anytime soon. We're talking about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the first follow up to the Matt Reeves/Rupert Wyatt trilogy of the 2010's that followed Andy Serkis' Caesar from infant to ape savior. Now, we've fast forwarded 300 years into the future as the Planet of the Apes is on the rise, with new factions emerging in the wake of Caesar, bringing with it new characters, new conflicts but continuing the age old morality tale of the Apes franchise. Dom is joined once again by Jeremy Nunez to discuss this movie, its placement in the franchise and more right here on the #talkintvpodcast

Episode 231 - The Fall Guy (Summer Kick Off)

We're kicking off the summer with already one of the most entertaining movies of the year, The Fall Guy! The next movie from David Leitch, who's quickly proved himself as one of the up and coming action directors. This time, we've got Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, the true merging of the Barbenheimer, in a massive action rom com romp that also seconds as the best Hollywood skewering since Tropic Thunder. It's got action, it's got romance, it's got comedy, this movie truly has everything. Dom, Luk, Kristen and Mac sit down and discuss what this movie has that every other movie from 2024 so far seems to be missing. Be sure to keep coming back for new episodes every week only on the #talkintvpodcast

    Episode 230 - Challengers & Shogun

We're wrapping up the winter and spring and moving into the summer with a double feature I don't think anyone saw coming. We've got the release of Zendaya's first leading feature film with Luca Guadagnino's Challengers, a movie that was supposed to be released in September of last year, as well as the finale of Shogun, the FX/Hulu miniseries that sees political machinations in feudal Japan that almost leads to war, starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Anna Sawai & Tadanabo Asano. Kristen and Unyolo Movie Blogs join Dom to break down everything that happens across these two properties in a brand new episode of the #talkintvpodcast

Episode 228 - Civil War Fallout Double Feature

Episode 228 - Civil War Fallout Double Feature

We're kicking off April and the last month of Spring before the summer kick off with a dystopic double feature! This time we've got the next film from Alex Garland & A24, "Civil War" as well as Amazon's adaptation of Fallout. Both properties see the country in the near & far future dealing with different types of dystopias, one where the president has assumed the role of a totalitarian dictator and the country has splintered and fighting each other, and the other a more traditional one where society has become split in the wake of a nuclear attack and split between rich people forming peaceful societies in underground bunkers and the survivors basically reforming the wild west on the surface world. Dom & Kristen break down both properties and their respective problems in the wake of a year that's got a LOT of dystopian properties coming out. All of this and more every week on the #talkintvpodcast

Episode 227 - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Episode 227 - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

We're wrapping up March Madness with some madness of our own, that being the next installment in the Monsterverse series, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The last time we saw these two titans, they were battling it out for dominance. Now, they've got to team up against an even bigger threat: an EVIL giant orangutan who's got his own pet giant lizard that breathes ice. And you know it's evil because it's got a whip made of skulls and has an evil laugh. Dom is joined by John Maffeo to break down how the movies in this franchise seem to be taking the wrong lessons from other franchises in an all new episode of the #talkintvpodcast

Did one of the guy drink 50 cups of coffee before recording?

I am a fan of The Endless and wanted an analysis of the film Synchronic not one about Netflix. I watched this on DVD not Netflix and this movie is not a Netflix original. I hoped these host watched the Endless, but have no knowledge of film fest films, I guess? One of the hosts seems hopped up on coffee and sounds so grating I think I will go listen to the Ronnie Rocket podcast instead. I can’t listen to it because it is so hyper. I can only hope they watch Resolution and The Endless then just hitting the best of list on Netflix. :(
