APES Holiday Special: Unproduced Script Read with FULL CAST

Happy Holidays to all of you apes, gorillas, orangutans, chimps, and you damn dirty humanoids! After a very long hiatus (apologies once again), we are back with a HOLIDAY SPECIAL. In this episode we finish our series on the Planet of the Apes unproduced TV script breakdowns with “Hostage.” But this time we bring in a full cast! We had a blast going through this script and even left in a lot of bloopers, gaffes, and screw-ups.
“Hostage” was written by Stephen Kandel, who has written scripts for Star Trek, The Bionic Man, Bionic Woman, Dukes of Hazzard, Charlie’s Angels, Wonder Woman, Batman, CHIPS, Love Boat, Dynasty, Hart to Hart, and The New Mike Hammer.  “Hostage” is dated April 5th, 1974.

    Story Synopsis
Galen, Virdron, and Kovack stumble upon the meeting place for the UFF - United Freedom Force - which is an outlawed civil rights group composed of humans and apes who wish to overthrow the Simian government and replace it with a more tolerant system.

    Full Cast Credits
Richard and Kevin would like to thank Sarah Woloski, Mark Oguschewitz (UnderexposedCinematicTreasures.com), David Braun, Anthony Pomes, Patrick Izzo, and Bryn MacKinnon for their participation and hard work. And a big thank you to those who sent in holiday greetings including Bobby Porter and Paul Williams.

Now go ape, and have a happy and Urkotastic holiday season!

    Make Mine MEGO

    Make Mine MEGO

Hello to all you Chimps, gorillas, orangutans, Underdwellers, and you Mego Collectors! The ape fan community went crazy with the recent news that Mego will start releasing new Planet of the Apes figures starting in April with Dr. Zaius and Cornelious.

We spoke with Paul ‘Mr. Mego’ Clarke of EMCE Toys who gives us insight as to what is coming up with the new Mego Planet of the Apes line (even some hints toward future releases). We talk about Paul’s career in the toy industry, our favorite figures growing up, and the psychological effect of collecting Mego. You will hear Richard have an actual breakthrough! They don’t call Paul Dr. Mego for nothing!

Richard and Kevin also fantasize about the Ape figures, and other pop culture icons, they would love to see in their collection in the future. They also run down the list of the figures that are coming out in wave 12 such as The Rocketeer, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Stan Lee Web Hand Edition, Igor from Young Frankenstein Igor, the Star Trek Salt Vampire, and more!

    Paul Williams Exclusive Interview

Happy Holidays to all you Chimps, gorillas, orangutans and you damn dirty humanoids! First off, I want to welcome Kevin Toft as the new co-host of Talking Apes! Not only is Kevin a co-host of the Max EFX Podcast and a very valued member of the Ape fandom community but he has friends in high places.

    Paul Williams Exclusive Interview

Kevin asked one of these friends to be a guest on this episode. That guest is a national treasure and an icon in the entertainment industry, but many of you know him as Virgil, the orangutan who “knows everything about everything” in Battle for the Planet of the Apes. That guest is Paul Williams! Mr. Williams shares many behind the scenes stories of working with the director of Battle, J. Lee Thompson, as well as Roddy McDowell and Claude “Cuddles” Akins. We also talk The Muppets and The Monkees!

Thank you to all the Apes who sent in Holiday messages that you’ll hear in this episode. You could say that this is our Talking Apes Holiday Special! And thank you once again to everyone for joining us on Talking Apes, we just hope we brought a smile to your face through a rough year.

"A Fallen God" Unproduced TV Script

Hello to all you Chimps, gorillas, orangutans, Underdwellers, and even you damn dirty Humanoids! In this episode of Talking Apes, Richard is joined by Max Cervantes and Kevin Toft of The Max EFX podcast. Talking Apes continues the series of episodes where they break down and give commentary on unproduced live-action Planet of the Apes TV scripts.
In the last episodes, Richard and Mark Oguschewitz reviewed two of Rod Serling’s unproduced scripts, ‘Episode I’ and ‘Episode II.’ Now Richard, Max and Kevin cover the third unproduced script, ‘A Fallen God’, written by Anthony Lawrence who co-wrote the Apes TV episode, 'The Deception.’
‘A Fallen God,’ script - March 2, 1973 (Three months before the release of ‘Battle for the Planet of the Apes’)
    Script link to follow along
‘A Fallen God’ Story Overview Galen inadvertently sells Alan and Kovack to a local farmer after he is put on the spot as to who they were. On the farm, Alan and Kovack sees the patriarch, Telemon, and his family worshipping an object which turns out to be a radio transmitter. Alan and Kovack must find a way to get to it since that might be a way to communicate to other humans. But, a human-fearing busy-body preacher named Syrinx is catching wind of these smart humans and must put an end to these destructive animals who will once again destroy the planet.

    Unproduced TV Script, Ep 2

    Unproduced TV Script, Ep 2

This episode of Talking Apes is dedicated to the bright center of the Apes fan community, Angela Rushmere, who has passed away. We, along with the many Ape fans, had numerous heartfelt comments that will be read on the show.
Then in this episode we will be breaking down the 2nd unproduced Rod Serling script for the live-action Planet of the Apes TV series, Titled Episode 2. If you thought we argued last time, this will take us to UrkoTastic levels!
    STORY SUMMARY:
Ursus and his Security Force, which includes his 15 year old son, Zonda, head out to search for  Alan, Kovack and Galen and before long they find them.
The renegades take off and in the heat of the chase, Alan knocks Zonda unconscious. Suddenly Alan, Kovack and Galen are aided by unseen assailants and the ape soldiers are forced to retreat.
These new “friends,” who are well cultured and live underground, are curious about Alan and Kovack who have befriended an animal, Galen. They want Galen, and Zonda who was brought with them, put to death until Alan demands they are put on trial to prove they are not as barbaric as the apes.
Also with this episode, Mark says his farewell due to a heavy workload and career opportunities. Since Mark is a HUGE Muppet fan we have a special segment where we find Planet of the Apes and Muppet crossovers. You probably didn’t think there were any, huh?
And Dr. Zaius has been putting in his two cents about the global pandemic as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And Dana Gould’s YouTube channel. (Not sure why he chose Dana Gould?) We also learn what delicious snacks Zaius enjoys.
Please follow along with us. You can find the remaining three scripts at:
http://potatv.kassidyrae.com/(look at the sidebar on left and go to ‘scripts and storyboards’ with the gorilla soldier icon)
There were 8 stories written to be produced for the series. Only 4 are in script form and the remaining stories are just in synopsis form and can be found in Simian Scrolls issue 12: https://pota.goatley.com/scrolls/simianscrolls_12.pdf

Apes! My 1st appointment tv show

I was in 1st grade and remember rushing through dinner on Friday nights so I wouldn’t miss a second of this show. I even got into the weird game show with Nipsy Russell that aired right before. I’m thrilled someone had the sense to do a great deep dive into this series. Now you need to start doing episodes reviewing each and every Apes TV show Topps card.
