Welcome to Talking ‘Ship, a non-fictional podcast about TV's best (...and worst) fictional relationships. Each season we will discuss the extended flirtations, frustrating miscommunications, banter, break-ups, red flags and red letters of television couples. Why do we love them together? How did they mess it up? And most importantly… what can these fictional romances teach us about our non-fictional lives? We’re gonna get into it. How do you get out of a Luke Danes friend-zone? Was Jim a jerk when he started dating Karen? Did Fitz deserve Olivia? Would you have told your friend to choose Aiden? Maybe even the age old question: were Ross and Rachel on a break? What do we think? Let’s talk 'Ship.
Talking TED LASSO & All the 'Ships
Like Ted, we here at Talking 'Ship believe in communism, Rom-Communism that is. That's why this week we're talking about an unlikely pairing that just somehow makes sense: sports shows & TV romance. Ted Lasso really does it all. It makes us literally laugh out loud, it breaks down toxic masculinity, it inspires straight men to go to therapy and it has some of the best couples on TV. In this episode, we're talking about all of our favorite Ted Lasso couples and characters. We discuss what we learn from Roy & Keely, how we relate to Rebecca if we could date a Ted, and perhaps most importantly if we would tell Beard we don't 'ship Jane. Co-hosted by the hilarious Kat Belinfante and JP Maddock!
Rory & Jess: Talking "Gilmore Girls" (Part I)
Are you into a dude with strong lurking energy? Is the girl you like obsessed with her mom? Do you find yourself falling for somebody despite everyone in your life (except a grumpy diner owner) telling you not to?! Well, you may be in a Rory/Jess situation, and honestly, we relate. In this episode, co-hosted by Katie Buderwitz, we discuss "Rory and Jess, the early years". We'll get into the trope of falling for your first bad boy, the attraction of somebody who nobody else understands, and of course, the DEAN of it all.
Maeve & Otis: Talking "Sex Education"
We're biking through the autumnal leaves of Moordale this week as we talk 'ship about our favorite mismatched high school couple, Maeve and Otis of Sex Education. Does this "mean girl" and "sensitive guy" combination make for insane chemistry or years of miscommunication? What do Maeves and Otis's look like in our real lives and what are the frustrations of dating them? And despite the years of hurt feelings, poor timing, and many dramatic mono-loves, do we ultimately 'ship this couple? Tune in to find out!
The 50 Most Iconic Moments of TV Romance (Part II)
Nobody is more patient than a TV 'shipper who's used to waiting seasons & seasons for their OTP to finally together. Well 'shippers, the wait is over. We're running to The Empire State Building, driving from New York City, planning the heist, breaking out the guitar, and defusing bomb threats... because the top 25 Most Iconic Moments of TV romance are here. Tune in to see if your favorite 'ship made it...
The 50 Most Iconic Moments of TV Romance (Part I)
We're 50 episodes in and we're celebrating, but we're also bringing you drama, discoveries, laughter, and most importantly... a list. We at Talking 'Ship are big fans of List Culture, and through it was finally fine to do a list of our own. In this episode, Megan and frequent contributor Katie Buderwitz bring you what is potentially their life's work: The 50 Most Iconic Moments of TV Romance. Did your OTP make the list? Did we include THAT kiss? What about THAT breakup? What about the use of THAT song during THAT sequence? Tune in for maybe our biggest episode of all time... and tune back in next week for Part 2, because you guessed it... we talk a lotta 'ship and had to break this into two parts.
Hot Girl Summer TV Recap
Summer break is over and the pod is back from hiatus for a CLASSIC Season 2 upgrade. We're tanned, we're refreshed, and we're ready to talk about what we did this summer. Or mainly we're here to talk about what Billie (Sex/Life) and Devi (Never Have I Ever) did because we're talking about the juiciest of Summer TV and where we land on the summer's love triangles, romantic entanglements, and accessibility of certain sexual positions. Much like the pod, some premiere Fall TV is also returning soon so we'll make predictions about Cousin Greg, Mr. Big, and who Milo Ventimiglia will be playing in Maisel.
Such a fun show!
Love this show and the examination of both fictional and non-fictional relationships. Megan is a fab host and very much enjoying current cohost Kat! What a joy and what a solid escapist pod right now:)

This podcast is amazing! I feel involved in the conversation, so relatable. Like talking to best friends. The girls voices are perfect for a podcast. Informative. You can tell they’ve definitely done their research and know what they’re talking about. Can’t wait for season 2!
