Episode 33 Tara in the Neighborhood with Joe Steven

Episode 33 Tara in the Neighborhood with Joe Steven

When Elon moved one of his launch sites to Brownsville his vision for space travel inspired our whole community.   Joe Steven, a local composer created a composition based on the story of a human's first trip to Mars and his interpretation of how it would feel using music as his form of expression.  I am not surprised Joe's new composition was inspired by space travel since Space X started their operations in Boca Chica the entire Valley began to really see our place in the World and beyond.
Joe discusses "his why". "Why" he creates his art.  Is your music inspired or channeled????.....
The music in Starman has no words it is instrumental and Joe explains why he chose to let the music stand alone.  We discuss the energy of music, vibration, and purpose-driven work.
We discuss extraterrestrials and Joe's take on the possibility of life in other life forms on other planets.  "WE are searching for what the Truth Is"...Joe Steven

    You can find Joe at

In the final few minutes, you can hear a small excerpt from Joe's album

Tara in the Neighborhood Episode 32 - Talentless

Tara in the Neighborhood Episode 32 - Talentless

In this episode, I finally got my youngest daughter to be a guest on my show.  We discuss the concept of being “talentless”.   The backdrop is a worldwide pandemic and sequestration of ourselves, a moment to have the time and space to “Be” with our humanity.  I debate with Ana the very meaning of life and we debate the question, “Can you build a life based on fun?”.   The concept of “being” leads to “doing” and “having” is a concept I have been playing with in my own life for the past 10 years.   I love the idea of using my life as an experiment in creation.
Waking to watch the sunrise in the Gulf of Mexico on a paddleboard, surfing in a storm, questioning the existence of God, and trusting yourself to open the right door takes insight courage and grit these are qualities in Ana.  I hope one day she listens to her younger self with a little more tenderness…
      What does Tenderness look like?
    IT is the Ocean
The ocean is never ending and salty
The ocean is strong and fierce but holds all life
IT holds human LIFE, animal LIFE
Small microbes to the largest BEINGS on the planet

Tenderness smells like flowers and fresh rain
Tenderness smells like eucalyptus and sunshine

IT is the strong hold of your hand
Which will only let go when you ask IT to

Tenderness sees all moments as perfect
Tenderness realizes there is nothing to forgive

    IT makes me smile

Tara in the Neighborhood Episode 31 with Diary of a Housewife

Tara in the Neighborhood Episode 31 with Diary of a Housewife

Selena reminds us to take care in the simple acts of life.   She reminds us all to take a moment and try to make it special. Selena does this with clothes but I see the bigger picture.  The bigger picture is to create rituals and ceremonies in our everyday life.  It could be as simple as curling your hair and choosing the perfect lipstick or reciting a poem to your loved ones.  The action of enchanting everyday life is what Diary of a Housewife does with her pretty pictures and heartful encouragement to her followers.   In times of evolution, humans need quiet moments to rest and I hope this podcast gives our listeners a moment to rest and be entertained by a local living a life of enchantment.......

As a Brownsvillian millennial that loves SPI more than any place in the world, I really enjoy this podcast! I’m always looking forward to find out who she talks to next. I recently moved out of the valley and this helps me feel close to home. So grateful for this podcast!
