Kiikstart is based in Australia but with a global focus. We are unique in the fact that we find innovation and new business opportunities from skill gaps, threats and risks.
The experiences of 2020 have largely shown that while the speed of innovation has increased, the processes, business models and staff skillset have largely failed to keep pace. A challenging and overwhelming thought no doubt, but it is possible to plan a way forward and close the gap between here and now and where you need to be.
For over 12 years, Kiikstart has had the benefit of working successfully with over 2000 people to create new careers in times of challenge, plus multiple businesses who are brave enough to ask 'what if…?'
We work with businesses and individuals that want to use their ambition and influence for positive impact and are looking for new tactics and skills to solve modern problems through innovation."

A chat with Rebecca Hartman Kearns; Glass/Mixed Media Artist, PLUS a whole lot more!

"Rebecca Hartman-Kearns a graduate of the South Australian School of Art is an exciting artist working in the field of glass.
Rebecca has exhibited in a variety of national galleries such as Adelaide Festival Centre, Jam Factory Contemporary Craft and Design Centre and the SA Museum's "Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize", Apotz Cruz, Hahndorf Academy and Amy Worth Gallery. Rebecca also had a solo show during the "Art in the East End, Come Out Festival" where she was awarded the "Mancorps Critics Choice Award".
In 2005 the International Glass Art Society Conference was hosted in Adelaide where Rebecca was awarded third prize in the International Student Exhibition. This international recognition of her unique and original work resulted in an invitation to exhibit in a two-person show "Aurora Australis" at the "Luniverre Gallery", Paris. In 2009 Rebecca was one of 3 Australian Glass artists to be invited to exhibit in "Glashart 2009" held in the Netherlands which resulted in her work being collected to appear in the prestigious "Bragotti Gallery", Amsterdam.
Rebecca's work has appeared in Publications such as Craft Arts International as well as the prestigious New Glass Review 26 and again in edition 28, where 895 artists from 40 countries submitted work to be chosen and her work was one of only 100 to be published.
Her passion for exploring new ideas and creative ways of pushing past boundaries in her making process, concept development and presentation, has resulted in Rebecca establishing a significant profile as a South Australian artist."

"Artworx Gallery & Gifts opened in October 2005 in the historic river port of Goolwa, 80 kilometres south of South Australia's capital city of Adelaide. Within months of opening, it had established itself as a must-see venue and within a year was being hailed as the finest contemporary gallery on the Fleurieu.
Its success has been confirmed by the SA Great organisation and the Southern Alexandrina Business Association, who have both made special Awards to Artworx in recognition of the gallery's contribution to the local arts scene and local artists.
Displaying original art, jewellery, sculptures and gifts, Artworx Gallery and Gifts is located in the centre of Goolwa's heritage precinct, in an 1850s stone cottage and warehouse near the town's restaurants, hotels and historic wharf and railway station, where paddle steamers and steam trains rule........

"I think Rebecca and I could have talked for hours which would have been a very long podcast!  I love Rebecca's energy, passion for social issues and her amazing artistic talent to produce beautiful and thought provoking art. Rebecca to me is a great example of an Entrepreneurial Artist, taking risks, pushing herself artistically while keeping a good balance between business and art.  It was such a pleasure to meet Rebecca and I suspect that we will keep in touch with many more chats to come!"

A chat with Naomi Schwartz - Contemporary Jeweller/Gallery Owner

A chat with Naomi Schwartz - Contemporary Jeweller/Gallery Owner

Naomi Schwartz"The challenge of manipulating metal is intriguing. Flowing forms and soft textural surfaces are created which gives movement and character to the hardness of metal."
"The style of my jewellery is reflective of the harmony of nature. Using anticlastic raising techniques, silver and gold is hammered and raised into curvy organic forms, creating strong, yet delicate structures. Distinctive variations evolve in each piece as I am guided by the movement of the metal. This process gives each piece a unique character. Different surface finishes further enhance the contrasts in texture, light and shade."

"Naomi Schwartz Jewellery Design Gallery is an open plan workshop and Gallery. The creative process of jewellery can be seen on the bench as well as the finished pieces in the gallery.
The emphasis of the Gallery is ‘Handmade in SA’. Alongside Naomi’s work, a collection of contemporary jewellery and glass is on display, designed and made by a selected group of South Australian jewellers. Currently there are over 40 local artists, providing a diverse range of styles and materials, including titanium, plastics, found objects as well as precious metals, gems and pearls.
Also on display are stunning hand blown glass pieces that are reflective of the beach and coastal area."

"I have known Naomi for a few years now and always enjoy our chats.  Naomi captures beautiful curves and textures in her jewellery designs that to me feels like she has captured the unpredictability that nature presents us, which I think is perfect being at the beach.  Naomi is quite modest about her achievements. Her gallery in the beachside suburb of Adelaide is quaint and full of the colours of the beach represented in artwork by local South Australian Artists as well as her own work.  I  recommend a visit to Naomi's gallery in person or online and I just love the idea of having a special piece of jewellery remodelled as we discussed in the podcast!."

A chat with Ben Todd, Drummer/Musician

A chat with Ben Todd, Drummer/Musician

"Ben Todd is a drummer, percussionist, composer and bandleader from Adelaide in South Australia.
Over the past 10 years, Ben has been touring the world with the internationally acclaimed "Cirque du Soleil" as a featured drummer, percussionist and now bandleader........ Ben has performed in Japan, Russia, The United States, Spain, Canada, France, Belgium and England and performed over 1500 shows.
Prior to joining Cirque, Ben performed with a wide range of artists back in Australia including Kate Cebrano, Paulini, Ben Folds, Doug Parkinson, Rhonda Burchmore, James Morrison, David Campbell, Barry Humphries and Glen Shorrok, as well as playing in the pit orchestras for a variety of musical theatre shows including the Australia/NZ tour of Cats, The Wedding Singer, Miss Saigon and Grease.
Ben began playing drums at the age of 3, adding to an already large family of drummers (3 generations to be exact). His first introduction to the instrument was from his father, who was a full-time freelance musician at that time."

"It was a honour to interview Ben Todd for this podcast.  When Ben was talking about his career, first playing drums at 3 years old, coming from a family of 3 generations of drummers (maybe a 4th generation drummer on the way!), the respect he has for his dad drummer, Steve Todd, his determination over 3 years to do what inspired him at the age of 9 to join Cirque du Soleil and travel the world and achieve this.....and so much more, I couldn't help notice how humble, grateful to everyone that has helped him along the way and driven Ben was. His passion and sense of  fun for what he does for a living, playing drums/music and being apart of the industry is truely inspiring. Thank you Ben for sharing your story, so far!"
