More crime, less complaining

Love hearing the retelling of the episodes and crimes, but the hosts come off really judgey and privileged. Big turn off: hearing the hosts complain about their Hollywood lives and name drop for the first half hour of every show. You can’t simultaneously advocate for the rights of victims and marginalized people and then complain about not having air conditioning in LA in the same breath without seeming pretentious and out of touch. I’d rather listen to old episodes of MFM.

It’s official I think they’re racist

Just listened to Witness. Liza’s extremely ignorant comments and questions about the Congo and the issue of rape as a war tactic did it. Combined with their exceptionally ignorant comments about Asian culture earlier this year (geishas are not prostitutes) and their constant celebrity name dropping and it’s obvious that these two live in a virtue signaling bubble. The conflict in the Congo is extremely complicated and while I’m glad Kara touched on how we can help, their lack of research/empathy really showed. I understand that it’s common for one host to “play dumb” so you can explain the cultural impact of sexual violence, but Liza sounded racist and Kara did a terrible job explaining. Liza basically called the Congolese a bunch of savages for 15 minutes then walked it back as soon as Kara brought up criticism of the West’s focus on sexual violence there. Y’all literally proved their point.
