Episode 320: Lick of the Month Wynton Marsalis on Buddy Bolden’s Blues

This week we are taking a look at a full chorus of one of my favorite musicians, Wynton Marsalis. There's a lot to dig into here. Wynton's use of simplicity combined with rhythmic genius and a constant attention to the melody makes this one of my favorite episodes yet!

Just What I Need

The format is perfect for me. I learn best by focusing on a small "chunk" until I master it. I am overwhelmed at time with other with other format--too much information in too short of time.

Best I’ve Found!

As a comeback musician with a preference for Jazz, this podcast has been THE one I use to improve. Nick’s short, but very educational, format helps keep the listener focused with actionable steps. It’s so nice to be able to review and select the episode topics in whatever order works best for you.

The Patreon subscription to receive the PDF examples, exercises and audio examples is a bargain!

I just discovered this pod! I’m a bass player and jazz lover and this is a terrific resource. I really enjoyed the content of the caravan lesson!
