Episode 098 - The Shawshank Redemption

We have officially reached the final film on our list! This was chosen as our finale because, as you probably already know, people absolutely LOVE The Shawshank Redemption. More than any other movie on this list, Shawshank always elicited the strongest reaction when people found out I'd never seen it. At long last, those days are now behind me.

Episode 097 - The Green Mile

Our penultimate film, as well as our penultimate Stephen King adaptation, The Green Mile has a lot riding on it as one of our anchor films in this final stretch. It's the origin of the "magical negro" plot device, with a star-studded cast, a talented mouse, and a whole lot of nonsense. We also discuss Mare of Easttown, Steel Magnolias, and Inside!

Episode 096 - On the Waterfront

This entry on our list is similar to Citizen Kane, in that it's not really a movie that's recommended as often these days, but deserves its spot due to its impact. On the Waterfront is one of the most celebrated American films. It's a movie filled with subtle performances that contains one of the most potent and impassioned rallying cries for workers' rights that still rings true today. We also discuss Mulan (2020), Now Voyager, and more!

    Episode 095 - Raging Bull

The final Scorsese film from our list ends up being one of the most intense across all 100 movies. Raging Bull depicts a frighteningly familiar monster in DeNiro's portrayal of Jake LaMotta, and shows how destructive unchecked male ego can be. We also discuss Black Book, Bacurau, Age of Innocence, and more!

Fun and good for recommendations

The hosts’ easy rapport makes this podcast feel like you’re just sitting in on a conversation with friends. The opening round-up of recently watched movies and shows have made me add a lot of things to my “to-watch” list (and even convinced me to give True Detective another shot!) It’s fun getting to hear first impressions of movies that you might have already loved for a long time (like Jaws, or Edward Scissorhands), and is a time saver for some movies you haven’t seen (I don’t need to waste my time on Gone with the Wind now!) I look forward to each new episode.

Two Thumbs Up

Do you like movies? Do you like talking about movies? Do you have a bit of a crush on Tom Hardy? Okay that last one isn't as important. But there IS something for all kinds of cinema lovers on the 100 Film Redemption.

If you've seen all the movies on the list, you can enjoy hearing someone see them for the first time. Or you can hate yell into the void about not seeing your favorite classics until now. Either way, you'll also learn some more background and cool facts about the movies.

If you haven't seen the movies, you can continue masking your ignorance just a little bit longer by having the movie discussed and spoiled for you. So the next time someone asks if you've seen (INSERT MOVIE HERE), you'll be more likely to pull off lying about it.

Looking forward to the next 99+ episodes!
