180 CAST - Ep 67 - Former Wedding Planner Warns Against Big Weddings

Writer and podcaster (Mama Cusses) Gwenna Laithland returns to explain how she went from planning extravagant weddings to being a proponent of "mini-monies" --tiny, low-budget ceremonies with close friends and family. Her personal experience with marriage and with planning weddings convinced her that big, expensive weddings threaten to blind couples to the realities of marriage for which they should be preparing. To give the gift of freedom and hope to slaves in Sudan, call Christian Solidarity International at 888-342-1010 to help CHRISTIAN SOLIDARITY INTERNATIONAL free slaves in Sudan. Get steep discounts on MYPILLOW products at mypillow.com. 180 CAST - Ep 66 - Ex-Calvinist Explains Why He Changed His Mind

180 CAST - Ep 66 - Ex-Calvinist Explains Why He Changed His Mind

Christian apologist and evangelist Leighton Flowers explains why he left Calvinism after 10 years of adhering to the "TULIP" (the five points of Calvinism). What would convince someone so deeply enthralled with "substantive" theology to abandon one of the most stalwartly held systematic theologies, the roots of which run all the way back to the Reformation? Lieghton also takes us through some of the key "prooftexts" of Calvinism and explains how he thinks they should be interpreted. Christians of all doctrinal stripes will find it engaging; Calvinists in particular may be surprised and challenged by Leighton's answers. To give the gift of freedom and hope to slaves in Sudan, call Christian Solidarity International at 888-342-1010 to help  CHRISTIAN SOLIDARITY INTERNATIONAL free slaves in Sudan. Text or leave a voicemail on the FLIP PHONE at 323.999.1802 to flip out, try to flip my position or explain a flip flop of your own and I'll respond on the podcast. Episode 64 Infant Baptism to Believer's Baptism with Gavin Ortlund

Author and senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Ojai Gavin Ortlund explains how he was forced while in seminary to put his own position of infant baptism under rigorous examination. The arguments resulting from that intense study may surprise you.
Gavin is the author of Theological Retrieval for Evangelicals: Why we Need Our Past to Have a Future, which focuses on particular doctrines and neglected theologians to show how evangelicals can draw from the past to meet the challenges of the present, as well as Anselm's Pursuit of Joy and Retrieving Augustine's Doctrine of Creation. Episdoe 63 Christian Cessationist Now Believes In Continuation of Charismatic Gifts

Christian theologian and author Sam Storms rejoins the podcast to talk about why he ceased to be a cessationist and now believes the charismatic gifts of the Spirit, such as prophecy and speaking in tongues, are present and active in believers today. Sam tackles some of the most confusing aspects regarding the practice of the gifts, like how they are supposed to be used to edify the church, and whether the weirdness of a behavior automatically disqualifies it as being biblical and of the Spirit. Don't miss out on hearing one of the most controversial 180s in Christian doctrine. Check out Episode 61, too:  A Premillennialist Embraces the Amillennial AlternativeLeave a voicemail or text the Flip Phone at 323.999.1802. Follow Sam @Samuel_Storms and find his writing at samstorms.org. His forthcoming book is called Understanding Spiritual Gifts: A Comprehensive Guide, to be released from Zondervan September 1, 2020. Follow @180cast to keep up with the podcast and hear soundbites.   Follow me @georgi_boorman for uncensored opinions on politics and culture from a Christian perspective. Fascinating!

All of Georgi’s guests so far have been incredibly interesting, and I’ve already learned so much that I didn’t expect to learn! Georgi asks pointed, articulate questions and fosters an environment of conversation—not controversy. I can’t wait to hear more episodes from people on all sides of hot-topic issues!

Great concept and host!

Georgi is a fantastic writer and it’s about time she had her own podcast!

Madman-iac ,

One of the most original concepts ever...

A thoughtful podcast, thoughtfully addressing, the process of thinking. How and why does someone change their mind? On major issues? Very cool!
