The 200 Level with Mike Carpenter is a weekly podcast focusing on Fighting Illini basketball and football.
It's the day after a monumental Illini basketball win, and Mike Carpenter is still struggling to comprehend what just happened. He discusses the impressive performance, Trent Frazier's big moment, Underwood mentioning "national title", and yes - how sweet it is to kick Michigan's butt.
The Greatest Game Ever Played (03/02/21)
Illinois basketball secured its biggest win of the year (and one of the biggest in program history) with a 76-53 win at #2 Michigan. Mike Carpenter, Trevor Vallese and Isaac Ambrose react during a thrilling second half, and utter these three words for the first time: national title contenders.
Catching Up with Cory (02/28/21)
Mike Carpenter recaps the big win over Wisconsin, a huge week ahead at Michigan and Ohio State, and how the Illini can secure a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Later, Cory Bradford hops on the podcast to talk about his new t-shirt with Fourth and Kirby, his career at Illinois, and what it's like to watch Frank Williams' kid help lead a top-5 Illini team into March Madness.
Stone Kohl'd Closers (02/27/21)
Despite a flurry of late game 3's from D'Mitrik Trice, the Illini closed out a gutty win in Wisconsin with ten consecutive made free throws. Mike Carpenter and Isaac Ambrose react during the thrilling victory, as Illinois gets a big road victory without their best player to improve to 14-4 in the Big Ten.
Where We're Going, We Don't Need Nose (02/25/21)
It's the first-ever dual solo/second-half pod in the history of The 200 Level! Mike Carpenter kicks things off discussing Ayo's injury, its silver linings, and a feverish Illini fan base spurred on by some questionable sports media types. Then, Trevor Vallese and Isaac Ambrose react during Illinois' impressive win over Nebraska.
It's a tale of two teams, as the Illini put in their worst performance of the year against a hungry Michigan State team. Mike Carpenter, Trevor Vallese, Isaac Ambrose and Andrew Wilson react during a positively stinky second half.

Illini Podcast for Die-hard Fans
I listen to a lot of Illini podcasts, but The 200 Level is always at the top of my list. It feels like hanging out with your best friend. They make crazy overstatements, are insanely emotional during scoring droughts, and make you listen to their band’s music, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the breakdown of Xs and Os as much as stories of eating Monical’s with French dressing. Keep up the great work Mike.
Good but could be better
I enjoy the broadcasts but good lord how hard is it for you guys to get together 5 minutes before broadcast and synch up your devices so you are all watching the broadcast at same time. Nothing more irritating then hearing Isaac react before Mike. Fix this and you get 5 stars.
Love syncing the podcast to my tv to rewatch second half’s and overtime. Great job by Mike, Trevor and Isaac.
