    Ep. #5 - Alan Scherer

    Ep. #5 - Alan Scherer

I am in conversation this week with Alan Scherer. Alan is a photographer, a runner, a suicide survivor, an advocate, and an all around badass. Before I go any further, I want to let you know we do go into great detail on the subject of suicide. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted loved one or call the national suicide hotline at 1-800-273-8255 One of the many reasons why I loved this discussion is that Alan and I discuss why trusting your inner knowing is so important. We talk about why taking a good hard look at yourself in the mirror is the greatest gift, and how giving back is the only way to fully experience life. Check out all of Alan’s podcasts here; http://www.anchor.fm/stillfocus http://www.anchor.fm/thefierceful and his work here http://www.alanschererphoto.com

Thank you for listening and for taking the time to give us five stars so we can continue to bring you content.

"I am a survivor defined by how I live my life not a victim defined by what happened in my life."

    Ep. #3 - Wendy Winn

    Ep. #3 - Wendy Winn

I am in conversation this week with Episode three guest and everyday extraordinary Wendy Winn. Wendy is a runner, a PT, a USATF Coach, and owner of Custom Performance in New York City where she inspires everyone to be their healthiest, best, selves. She has a relentless drive to uplift and empower her clients, and her team who she refers to as her family. I was so inspired after meeting her that I wanted to dig right in and hear how she ignites that passion in others. I am grateful to call Weny a friend, and I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I have over the years. This is episode three of the Adrianne Strong Podcast, in conversation with Wendy Winn.

Ep. #2 - Nicole Ver Kuilen

“That fire that had been burning inside me, it was finally time to unleash it. It was the tipping point. ..I decided I’m going to quit my job, and I’m going to take on a 1500 mile triathlon down the West coast starting in Seattle and ending in San Diego.” - Nicole Ver Kuilen

Episode Two in conversation with Nicole. We discuss what challenges she has faced, and how discrimination is in all of us. And just when you want to shake your fist and say “I want to DO something about this, what can I do?! We give you our next movement; the #ijustfeltlikerunning campaign. We have lawyered up, we’re taking on Congress for blatant discrimination.

Links to this movement and the movie of her first Triathlon and post production fact checks are in show notes.

    Ep. #1 - Dave Krupa

    Ep. #1 - Dave Krupa

I live in arguably the most bio diverse place on planet earth in Ecuador, so I'm surrounded by the natural world that reminds me so often that diversity is beautiful." Dave Krupa

I am elated to bring you Episode One of the podcast with my dear friend and extraordinary human, Dave Krupa. Dave is in the business of empowering humans to fulfill their dreams. We discuss how he does this, why he does this, and share some hilarious memories climbing ice volcanoes together. But what I loved most about our conversation is his perspective on society's generalization of disabilities

I encourage you to listen, to learn, to share, and continue the conversation of inclusion in your own lives with the people you love.

Dave makes reference to his favorite rum, HERE. (ZACAPA / Reservebar.com)

I mentioned in the episode that the Ugly Law ended in 1974 followed by the Americans With Disabilities Act. It is to be noted that the ADA did not go into law until 1990.

    Intro

    Intro

Hi there, and welcome to the Adrianne Strong Podcast. My name is Adrianne Haslet and I am a keynote speaker, Para Athlete, advocate, and dog mom. Above all else, I am a lover of emotional honesty and digging deep into how we find strength in the messiest moments of life. I believe we all have a badass inside of us and I’m deeply inspired to hear what drives people to let that side of them shine. So come, join me, in making the tough parts of life the most beautiful conversations of our lives. I only have one rule while you’re here; no comparing stories with each other. What may seem like Mount Everest to some, may seem like a speed bump to others, and vice versa. We all face the hard. Your hard is welcome here, no matter it’s size.

What qualifies me for this endeavor? That’s easy; I’m human. I don’t need a permission slip to have conversations about the tough stuff. But I do have more than my share of expertise in this arena, as an amputee and survivor of the terror attacks at the Boston Marathon Bombings, seven years of intense trauma therapy, learning how to dance competitively again, deciding to become a runner and run marathons, and recovering from being hit by a car. I will use my own experience adjusting to new normals to discover what my guest’s unique stories have to teach us all, and, show you, that you too have the strength to overcome adversity in your own life. I cannot wait to share stories of everyday extraordinaries with you.

    I’m glad you’re here! -Adrianne
