Minh Lê Talks Fatherhood, Green Lantern’s Legacy & More

Minh Lê sits down with me to chat about his latest book, Green Lantern: Legacy. Minh shares with me how he was able to use his family’s history and grandmother as key parts for Green Lantern: Legacy. Lê talks about how excited his two sons are for him to write a DC Comics graphic novel and his plan to keep on writing books for his sons.

Minh and I talk about fatherhood and the values he looks to instill into his sons. We finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five.

    About Minh Lê

Minh Lê is the author of the picture books Drawn Together and Let Me Finish! and has written for the New York Times, the Horn Book Review, and the Huffington Post. Green Lantern: Legacy is his first graphic novel. A first-generation Vietnamese-American, during the day Minh is a national early childhood policy expert who went to Dartmouth College and has a master's in education from Harvard University. Outside of spending time with his beautiful wife and sons in their home near Washington, D.C., Minh's favorite place to be is in the middle of a good book.

Follow Minh on Twitter at @bottomshelfbks and check out his book Green Lantern: Legacy that comes out January 21st.

    About Green Lantern: Legacy

Thirteen-year-old Tai Pham lives in the apartment above his grandmother’s store, where his bedroom is crammed with sketchpads and comic books. But not even his most imaginative drawings could compare to the colorful adventure he’s about to embark on.

When Tai inherits his grandmother’s jade ring, he soon finds out it’s more than it appears. Suddenly he’s being inducted into a group of space cops known as the Green Lanterns, his neighborhood is being overrun by some racist bullies, and every time he puts pen to paper, he’s forced to confront that he might not be creative enough or strong enough to uphold his ba’s legacy.

Now Tai must decide what kind of hero he wants to be: will he learn to soar above his insecurities or will the past keep him grounded?

Brandon League Talks Fatherhood, Playing In The MLB & Parallel x League

Brandon League sits down with me to talk about fatherhood, playing baseball in the MLB, and what inspired him to create his clothing line, Parallel x League and what clothes he thinks would be a great fit for any dad.

Brandon then opens up more about fatherhood and how he and his family worked on his transition from his playing days to being at home with the family. Brandon also shares the values he looks to instill into his daughters and answers the Fatherhood Quick Five.

    About Brandon League

Brandon and his wife, Sasha are blessed with four daughters and love travel and being active. Brandon is a traveler, creative mind, and former Major League Baseball pitcher. He found his craft and his voice off the field curating his wardrobe with modern urban aesthetics and hints of his laid back Hawaiian heritage. From up-cycled clothes combed from thrift store aisles to high fashion designer pieces, Brandon’s closet became a source of eclectic inspiration.

"Parallel" represents harmony. It’s the balance between our journeys and exciting new frontiers. We recognize that the past and future coexist as we journey through stages in our lives, whether it be switching careers or discovering new surroundings.

Inspired by this meaning, our modern-heritage line moves with the fast-paced fashion industry while keeping what is most important constant: lasting quality, tailored fit for the athletic build, and our Parallel philosophy.

Joonas Suotamo Talks Fatherhood, The Rise of Skywalker & BabyBacca

Joonas Suotamo Talks Fatherhood, The Rise of Skywalker & BabyBacca

Joonas Suotamo sits down with me to talk about fatherhood, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the advice the late and great Peter Mayhew gave him about playing the iconic role of Chewbacca and what it was like to ride in the Millennium Falcon with not only Han Solo, but Lando Calrissian as well.

Joonas also talks with me about getting ready for baby number two coming next year and how he calls his son Baby Bacca and how his son is working on Chewie’s roar!

    About Joonas Suotamo

Joonas Suotamo grew up in Espoo, Finland and first became interested in acting through his performances in local plays during his youth. Later on, a basketball scholarship offered him the opportunity to go and study at the Pennsylvania State University in the United States. During his time at university, Joonas chose film studies over acting because of the perceived lack of roles for tall people.

Never one to give up on his dreams, his film studies and interest in acting paid off when he was cast in the highly anticipated blockbuster movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens to act as the double for the iconic character of Chewbacca. After the film’s massive success, his hard work was awarded. Joonas became Chewbacca in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story. He will reprise his role in the final chapter of the trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker where he undoubtedly will once again bring to screen the Wookiee that we all love.

Follow Joonas on Twitter at @JoonasSuotamo and check him out in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th in theaters.
