AHE Podcast EP2005 - Why is Grandma in My Classroom?

AHE Podcast EP2005 - Why is Grandma in My Classroom?

We have all experienced it, Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, or maybe some other adult who’s familial relationship you can’t quite pinpoint in the background of the computer screen while your student takes class. Sometimes they are silently watching, sometimes they are giving the students the correct answers, other times they are doing mundane household chores. Whatever it is they were doing, I can guarantee you it made you feel a little more self conscious while you were teaching class. It creates a lot of pressure and it is something that many of us, even those that have a background in education, do not have experience with. Well, Brittany is here today to let you know that this is normal and to be expected during English instruction in China and you can listen to find out excatly why._____________________________________________________________Find me in these places 👇:🌎 Website: www.athomeeducatorpodcast.com📸 Instagram: www.instagram.com/theathomeeducator/💌 E-Mail: teacherbrittanybci@gmail.com👩‍🏫 Personal Facebook Page: bit.ly/2Jnokdz🛒 TPT Store: bit.ly/2PrzM93Links to the resources referenced for this podcast:◾China’s Economic Rise: History, Trends, Challenges, and Implications for the United States - https://fas.org/sgp/crs/row/RL33534.pdf ◾Mao Ze Dong: http://bit.ly/33YTWNT◾Consequences of the Cultural Revolution: http://bit.ly/2Opvkax◾The One Child Policy: http://bit.ly/2KA2kvL◾The Cultural Revolution: http://bit.ly/37hbYwW◾China - The World Bank: http://bit.ly/37hARZz◾What it was like to grow up under China's one-child policy | Nanfu Wang: http://bit.ly/2r3SICy◾Can China recover from its disastrous one-child policy?: http://bit.ly/32ZNkxI◾Could you Pass China’s GaoKao Exam: http://bit.ly/2qfTPPK◾Chinese students choose to retake gruelling ‘gaokao’ college entrance exam, aiming for a school with more prestige: http://bit.ly/331ePH0◾The gaokao is China's notoriously tough entrance exam, which can also get you into western universities — check out its punishing questions: http://bit.ly/32VvdZx

Thank you for the share on reading and phonics, this is great information for teaching ESL and to remember when helping my 7th grader as well. I found it interesting, I remember when she was in 2nd grade the teacher moved her to title one for two weeks to catch up,
I felt like a failure mom, then a teacher friend helped
Her, She said it doesn’t matter if they’re reading the phone book as long as they’re interested and engaged. She’s done well since. Thank you for the information.
