A closer look at the Rams and Bucs w/Jourdan Rodrigue and Greg Auman | Final Week 4 waiver wire thoughts w/John McKechnie

DVR is joined by The Athletic’s Rams beat writer Jourdan Rodrigue to discuss Matthew Stafford’s excellent start through the first three games, Cooper Kupp’s bid to be considered an elite fantasy wide receiver, the slow start of Robert Woods, and expectations for the backfield in the wake of Sony Michel’s 20-carry game against Tampa Bay.

Then, The Athletic’s Bucs writer Greg Auman joins DVR to discuss Tom Brady’s pace to break his own previous-high in passing TDs, the struggles of the Tampa Bay ground game, a potential deep-league stash at wide receiver in the Bucs’ offense, and reasons to be optimistic about the team’s defense in the coming weeks.

Finally, DVR is joined by RotoWire’s John McKechnie to break down the waiver-wire cases for Chuba Hubbard, Peyton Barber, Curtis Samuel, Tim Patrick, James Washington, and several others before FAB and claims are processed for Week 4.

Takeaways from Week 3, waiver wire targets, and trade considerations

Takeaways from Week 3, waiver wire targets, and trade considerations

Jake and Brandon discuss the disappointing showing of Justin Fields in his first NFL start, Odell Beckham’s form in his first game back from a torn ACL, Saquon Barkley’s return to top-end RB status, and the Falcons’ offensive woes.

Plus, they take look at pickups to consider on the waiver wire, including Chuba Hubbard, Collin Johnson and Zack Moss (among others), and discuss their level of concern about T.J. Hockenson and Ty’Son Williams, and the difficulty of starting WR1s in a true game-time decision situation.

Has Mike Williams overtaken Keenan Allen as the Chargers’ No. 1 receiver? Is it time to panic about Jonathan Taylor’s TD drought? Can the Steelers’ offense bounce back with the current version of Ben Roethlisberger? Are we back to ‘Start Joe Burrow!’?

Do King Henry or passing games reign supreme in Week 3 DFS contests?

Do King Henry or passing games reign supreme in Week 3 DFS contests?

Beller and DVR take a look at the Week 3 DFS main slate, focusing on one question in particular: Do you want to pay up for Derrick Henry, or do you want to focus on passing games from, say, Seattle, Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Los Angeles, all of which are playing in what are expected to be high-scoring games? Your answer to that question could very well determine how you build your DFS rosters this week.

Justin Fields, Deebo Samuel and the rest of the Week 3 fantasy football rankings

Justin Fields, Deebo Samuel and the rest of the Week 3 fantasy football rankings

Week 3 is one of a handful of moving weeks in the fantasy world. We've got desperate 0-2 teams, some of which will be even more desperate by the end of Monday night. We've got 2-0 teams riding high, some of which will move to 3-0 and feel they're unstoppable. Every team, no matter where they are in the standings, can use a win this week. And that's where Beller, Jake and Funston start when they discuss the Week 3 rankings on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast.
Justin Fields is getting his first career start. Should he start for you? Just how good is Deebo Samuel going to be this season? You're starting Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Ezekiel Elliott, but how worried should you be about them? Which WR3s should be in your lineup, and which should be on the bench? The guys answer all those questions, plus go head-to-head on a few players where they differ, make cases for backs outside the top 24 and top 30, and generally ignore the tight end position.

Great Show

Love this show and really enjoy the content. Recommend it to everyone. However I recommend skipping the beat writer episodes as they’re not really worth the time and come across as just an excuse to put something out. Listen to their Waiver Wire show and Nando show. Skip the rest. That being said, they provide content to help you win your league and find that edge! Keep up the good work!

Cheer up Jake

Really like the content but Jake made today’s episode almost unlistenable. Cheer up man. You get to talk about fantasy football for a living. At least act like you like it instead of complaining every time one of the guys asks you your opinion… “ugh just check the link” or “why don’t you warn me before you ask me something”. I’m going to keep listening but hope you’ll be better from here on out.
