Basic reporting in high level insights are fine. Ornstein and a few others quite good. However the main crew are so hypocritical, inconsistent; their bias comes out. Unfortunately The Athletic succumbs to social pressure to have diverse voices based on immutable characteristics than on merit. Why else have that thick woman giving commentary?

Appreciate the discussion about the FIFA uproar. But other than Infantino’s not popular, you and Laura McAllister didn’t explain why his plan was an “existential threat”. It sounded, the little it was discussed what the plan actually is, like a good idea to raise money for soccer nations. Maybe since Europe has plenty the “threat” is they don’t have as much control.

Read the critical reviews they all say the same thing. One positive point is that the recent pod on FIFA/Infantino/Private Equity proposal was one of the most balanced discussions on its positives and it’s negatives that I have heard or read. To their credit they do point out that a lot of the rest of the world believe European football is actually the problem with England in particular leading the way. That’s why two stars. It would have been one if they had not acknowledged that. So maybe they have some potential to grow. Don’t bet on it unless you are English since they will bet on anything.

If you’re looking for a podcast in which all the commentators agree on everything and are overtly biased to England, this podcast is for you. Otherwise move on from this snooze-fest.
