Harmless in small doses

Used to listen to these guys and unsubscribed. Not recommended for anyone looking to build their faith.

A potentially needed niche

Definitely think there is some breathing room needed for Christians to speak openly about their experiences in the world and with the modern church, however...

1. Stop interrupting your guests every 30 seconds. Allow them to finish an idea.
2. Put is some general show notes showing where the guest interview begins.
3. Stop with the yeas and rights after every point the guest makes. It’s normal in a conversation, but it is extremely annoying to listen to.

Just do these things and regardless of the content this would be a much better show.

Well intentioned but mirror image of what the worst in evangelicalism

These guys seem to have some legitimate gripes with Evangelicalism, but their bad experiences with it afflict them with the same dismissiveness and strawmanning they claim to be frustrated with. Moreover, instead of just talking about the issues (where the hosts occasionally have interesting positions) the conversation must always begin and center around why evangelicals won’t have the “conversation.” I have a number of friends who would be drawn to this podcast because of the vapid nature of many evangelical churches, but listeners should know this podcast shares many of the worst elements of evangelicalism. If you’re over Christianity, there are other podcasts and resources that are more thoughtful and engaging (for example, the Joe Rogan podcast on weed is
Significantly better and much more nuanced). If you’re trying to figure out Christianity in the modern world, there are more informed, substantive, and historically aware resources available.
