I like them

As a Black woman who left the man made crap of religion, but still wholeheartedly believes in God, I enjoy listening to these guys and their perspective. A little long winded but I enjoy it once they get into the topics. I appreciate their realness and transparency.

Long Winded Crass Recovery

This podcast has some really good aspects and some really not so great aspects.

Among the great: I really enjoy how open and honest these guys are and willing to pretty much talk about anything.

Among the not so great: this is a very long winded podcast (aka conversational) where it sounds like they just hit record and talk for 1.5 hours. I frankly don’t have time in my life to listen to that much material. I’d rather listen to a podcast that is edited down to 30-45 minutes.

My main gripe is the thing they talk about often and seem to not really understand: Christians are to be above reproach. Plain and simple. I could quote TONS of scripture that calls us as followers of Jesus to be holy, but I’m not going to. You can go read the Bible for yourself. I will say that crassness for crassness sake is just lame and sad. I always wished they would go through a phase of cussing or whatever and then work back to what I would call Biblical Christianity. The amount of violent, sexual, and otherwise R rated material is not something I would want to listen to, even on a “secular” (yes, I hate that term too) podcast.

A front row seat to Christian deconstructionism.

It has really saddened me to watch from the beginning as these three guys "edgy"christian guys go from proclaiming faith in Christ in an albeit unconventional format to being basically agnostic. It became clear that their faith wasn't built in Christ but in their Christian culture so this straw man faith they had is easily knocked down because they're not worshipping God but themselves and the culture they're a part of. I would recommend the Alissa Childers podcast or Ravi Zacharias or one of many other real biblically based podcasts.
