Dear Mom of the Mouthy Teen

Dear Mom of the Mouthy Teen

Five years ago, I had a conversation with a mom friend. She told me about an interaction she witnessed between another mom (whom she didn’t know) and a teen. My friend was appalled at how the other mom responded to her teen. After that conversation, I opened up my laptop and wrote a letter to this anonymous mom. I never intended to share it with that mom, necessarily, but knew I was supposed to share it someday with some mom. Well, today is the day and you are that mom.

    7 Mindsets to Overcome People-Pleasing

    7 Mindsets to Overcome People-Pleasing

With Balance, what we THINK about what we do is way more important than what we actually do. We could technically be doing the right things in life but if we are full of fear because we are afraid of what people think of us? This is NOT balance. So today I'm giving you the mindsets or mantras I actually tell myself to break through the barrier of People-Pleasing.

    People-Pleasing

    People-Pleasing

Most women begin down the road of people-pleasing with pure motives. We don’t start by saying, “I’m going to choose the will of other people over God’s will for me.” We start out thinking we are obeying God. We are trying to be nice, trying to serve, trying to keep the peace. Often by the time we realize what we are dealing with, we are so deep into it we don’t know how to break free. If you feel stressed, conflicted, resentful, or unbalanced, people-pleasing may be the culprit.

    Perfectionism and Its Roots

    Perfectionism and Its Roots

My favorite childhood game was a game called Perfection. The object of the game was to fit all the little geometric pieces in their proper place before time runs out. If you didn’t, the whole game exploded and the pieces flew everywhere. For those of us who struggle with Perfectionism, this is how we feel every day—pressured to get everything in place just so or the whole thing explodes in our face. If you are a perfectionist or you love someone who is, this episode is for you.

So many practical gems!

The advice on this podcast is so full of wisdom. I loved the thought that “people need permission to fill MY calendar.” Yes! So many practical gems to maintain peace in life.

Like coffee and a hug from a friend

Sandy (and her podcast) is the right balance (no pun intended) between warm friend who GETS IT and friend who has the best advice. Without judgment or guilt and with all the gentleness of a fellow wife and mom who knows how chaotic life can get, she shares real tips for handling it a little better than I am now.

Great insight!

I listened to the episode on balancing social media use and it was the perfect advice without being preachy or bossy. Sandy has such a personable and relatable approach to her topics. It feels like sitting with a wise and trusted friend.
