In this first episode, Jess and JMac dive in head first by discussing why formatting actually does matter when writing code. It's not about tabs versus spaces or curly brace placement. Formatting is about the reader and ensuring we write code which is visually honest.

Great insights to improve your code

If you're in the PHP/Laravel world very much you've probably already heard about Jason McCreary. He created a very neat tool called Larave Shift. It does most of the heavy lifting to migrate your Laravel application to a newer version of Laravel. He's already a big proponent of code readibility. You should definitely checkout his BaseCode Field Guide. This podcast is a great opportunity to get access to his insights in small audio chunks. I didn't know Jess Archer before this podcast but look forward to hearing more from her. The two hosts seem to be meshing better as the season progresses and the episodes go down pretty well. Perhaps we'll soon get a website that supports the concepts they discuss.
