Friends with LOTR benefits

I recently stumbled upon this podcast and am so happy I did! It’s a fun listen for LOTR fans. Feels like I’m with friends while out on my evening walks. Great job fellowship!

A Silly but Heartfelt (Helms) Deep Dive

Funny, informative, and insightful. Because you all cover the scenes of each half hour so assiduously, anyone listening could learn at least one new thing in every episode about the books, behind-the-scenes of the film, or details one might not have noticed from the movies themselves. They can also get far more Dennis Miller impressions than one would expect to hear in 2024 or on a Lord of the Rings recap podcast. Hey cha cha.

I loved everyone’s different takes on the interesting acting choices (primarily vocal choices), the many examples of Gandalf as the most “extra” (with Elrond as a *very* close runner-up), and Legolas’ weirdo expositional throwaway lines. Thank you Kelly for loudly booing literally every time Legolas spoke in Fellowship of the Ring. It is the most appropriate visceral response.

Sad the trilogy recap is coming to an end. I sincerely hope you all just rewatch the movie and do it again! Thanks for the laughs! You are all wonderful!

P.S. I need to share one of my favorite jokes of the podcast: when Grima WormTongue returned to Isengard and was soaking wet (so wet. Like, orc-level wet), one of you (I think Matt) said he looked like “the worst professional wrestler” or “one of the shipmates from Pirates of the Caribbean”. Still laughing.

Delightful

Whenever I go through tough times I turn to Lord of the rings. This watch has been so much more light hearted because of your podcast. It’s really hard to find genre podcast with host that have a sense of humor and have something intelligent to say. Wow, what a concept! I usually watch the appendices (I love how these awesome movies came together) and I was wondering if maybe you guys would react to them. They are extensive but if you just press “play all “ they will be in a manageable order. So much good stuff! For each of the extended editions. I may be a super nerd about the films so it may be only enjoyable to me.
