    Episode 154 - Deadly Premonition

A game that has been hailed as genius, revolutionary, and utter garbage all at the same time, Deadly Premonition achieved cult classic status the day it launched back in 2010. The Xbox 360 title borrows themes from Twin Peaks, constantly references famous films, and introduces the world to a delightfully twisted community hidden away in rural America where the trail of a serial killer has led FBI agent Francis York Morgan.

Episode 153 - Titanfall 2 (ft. Justin Carter)

    Kept you waitin', huh?

We are back with this episode recorded roughly a day before the protests broke out in Minneapolis and everything became very overwhelming for a while. It has taken a bit to get back on my feet, but we're back with another podcast!

This week's episode features Justin Carter (@GigawattConduit), a writer who has bounced around the game industry for quite a while now. This week we talk about one of the tightest first-person shooters to come out in the past decade: Titanfall 2. A phenomenal multiplayer game mixed with a fast and imaginative single-player campaign set in a world torn by war waged with the help of giant robots, Titanfall 2 captured the hearts and minds of many - and birthed the now ubiquitous APEX Legends. Does it hold up? Listen along as Justin and Jack chat to find out!

Episode 152 - Towerfall (ft. Marcus Stewart)

Friend of the show Marcus Stewart arrives to talk about his favorite party game of all-time: Towerfall. The first 100% Ouya exclusive to be featured on this program, Towerfall was developed by the same team behind the recent incredible platformer Celeste. It was created by Matt Thorson making this the first game headed by a non-binary developer to be featured on this show (at least to our knowledge).

In 2014, a small band of misfit developers who had previously worked on the game Bulletstorm released an indie game like nothing anyone had seen before. Finally!

Just listened to the FFIX podcast, loved it. Thank you for delving into the themes of this game and all of the existential crisis each of the characters go through. If there were a vote for favorite Final Fantasy character it would be 1. Vivi 2. Ramza 3. Sabin.

A Singular Pleasure

As someone who lives a mundane life, I enjoy video games for their unique ability to transport me to another realm. That is one of the reasons I appreciate this podcast; whenever I listen to the insightful, incisive, borderline brilliant dialogue between Jack, Daniel, and Jeremy, I am transported to a well-lit studio complete with microphones and Jack, Daniel, and Jeremy.

These men are among the most intelligent in video games today. Should you decide to listen to their podcast, you will join their small but devoted legion of followers who revel in the trio's impressive knowledge and nonchalant banter. You will laugh and you will learn; you will cry, yes, but you will grow as well.

Years later, when all is said and done, when you lie on your deathbed calculating your wasted hours, wondering if your success hinged on a few more Saturdays spent hunched in an office overlooking the New York City skyline, asking yourself about your failed marriage and the reasons everything disintegrated like toilet paper in the toilet, you will not regret your time with The Best Games Period.

Period.
