Ep. 372: The Sex Talk You Never Had with Your Parents with Vanessa and Xander Marin

Ep. 372: The Sex Talk You Never Had with Your Parents with Vanessa and Xander Marin

Talking about sex is a tricky situation. Most of us had a brief and most likely awkward sex-talk with our parents at some point, and were then left to figure out the rest by ourselves. Movies, books, and porn make up some of our first experiences with sex—how we should feel about it and what it should look like—which has left us all with a lot of baggage and confusion. Sex shouldn’t feel like pressure or performance, it should be fun! We were lucky enough to talk to sex therapist Vanessa Marin, and her business partner and husband, Xander Marin, about their work to destigmatize sex talk and keep the spark alive in sex lives everywhere!

A non-awkward way to ask questions about sex [2:18]
    Becoming a dynamic duo [4:28]
The decision to build a personal brand [7:11]

Ep. 371: Do Couple Need to Go to Bed Together?

Maybe you feel the same way or maybe you don’t, but we love to go to bed at the same time as our partners. People have different sleep schedules, sure, but isn’t it nice to have a dedicated moment of connection at the end of every day? And is it possible that incompatible sleep times means incompatibility in general? Let’s chat about it. (And if you’re curious How Danny snagged last-minute floor seats for Taylor Swift’s tour, you’ll definitely want to tune in!)

Ep. 370: The Paradox of Aging

Ep. 370: The Paradox of Aging

40 used to seem like an ancient age—practically dead already—but now that we’re there, we still find ourselves wondering what we’re gonna do when we grow up. There’s a lot of pressure placed upon us in our youth, and we found that once we reached 30, life got a lot more exploratory and a lot more fun. It’s been said that age is just a state of mind, and we believe it! You can kick and scream and hate getting old as much as you want, but you can have a lot more fun if you keep making new memories and look to all the best parts of getting older.

Talking more about our age as we get older [2:12]
Finally accepting our 40’s for what they are [4:46]
Age doesn’t feel how we thought it would [7:02]
The pressure to get it “right” by 30 [9:41]
You can live be a million different people in one lifetime [13:41]
Beliefs about aging effect how you age [15:37]
    Keep making new memories [17:56]
    The responsibilities of aging [20:31]
Where do expectations come from? [22:31]
You can kick and scream, or you can embrace it [25:50]
Getting excited about the next version of you [30:57]

Ep. 368: Waiting For The Other Shoe to Drop

Ep. 368: Waiting For The Other Shoe to Drop

Have you ever felt that unnerving sense that life was good—almost too good—and like something bad was going to happen at any second? Maybe it’s leftover hyper-vigilance from traumatic events, or maybe you’ve been conditioned to believe you don’t deserve to be happy. Whatever the cause, always expecting loss isn’t going to help you prevent it from happening. Your fears might be holding you back, or worse, you may be manifesting those fears directly into your life! Life is going to have really great moments, and some really shitty ones, too. Might as well spend all your energy looking forward to the great ones.

Expecting the worst to happen [3:06]
Is it a problem if you’re not holding back? [4:09]
    A self-fulfilling prophecy of loss [7:10]
Hard doesn’t have to exist only in extremes [10:25]
Trusting yourself to handle any outcome [12:02]
Hyper vigilance is a waste of time [16:07]
If you’re going to expect anything, expect something good [18:27]
We all have access to personal development tools [21:20]
“Worthiness” comes down to conditioning [25:25]

Ep. 367: The Pros and Cons of Breast Implants

Ep. 367: The Pros and Cons of Breast Implants

Hey, Breasties! —Er... Besties. We mean Besties. We have boobs on the brain because one of you wanted to know some more about implants: should you get them, should you not? Neither Jill nor Danny was blessed in the breast department, but only one of us has experience with implants. Getting your boobs done isn’t a simple decision and if you’re thinking about it, there’s a lot to think about first. There are positives and negatives to whatever you choose, but what matters most is to make sure you’re not getting implants just to put a bandaid on your deepest insecurities.

To breast or not to breast [1:40]
    Danny’s history with implants [4:30]
Recovery and complications from surgery [7:43]
Would she do it again? [10:37]
    Looking proportional and natural [11:49]
Doing what’s right for you [13:54]
    Implant options [16:27]
    Feeling feminine [21:37]
    Health and financial considerations [23:32]

My fave podcast

I frequently come back to this podcast to see if there’s something new - I contacted one of you (sorry I don't know if it was Jill or Danny I’m really bad at remembering who it was inspike with) about how I wanted to level up in my business - you gave me the link to the entrepreneurial podcasts so I’ve listened to them over and over. I joined a mastermind and even have connected with another listener of yours recently to learn more about taking my business online. Love all your shows! Thank you for starting my day off right!

Authentic

I've been listening to this podcast for about four years and just love it! These two ladies are authentic to the core, talk about issues from serious to silly with a fresh perspective, and even though I'm 20 years older than they are, I can relate to everything they talk about and really appreciate their perspective. Check it out. You will love it.

My favorite podcast

I have been listening to this podcast for the past five years and took a moment the other day to think about what I like about it so much that really sets it apart from other podcasts I listen to.

One thing that comes to mind is I love the conversational aspect between Danny J and Jill, and all of the real life topics they cover. It makes me feel like I am having coffee with girlfriends.

Thanks ladies! I always look forward to the next episode.
