It's Game of the Year meets King of the Hill as four of Earth's best friends – Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Chris Plante, and Russ Frushtick – rank and review their favorite video games. Because shouldn't the world's best friends pick the world's best games?
New Pokémon Snap and Returnal, a Mash-up for the Ages
This week we welcome back the long-wandering Griffin McElroy. And what a week it is! On the docket: two actual, major game releases, New Pokémon Snap and Returnal. They may be about as different as you could imagine, but they do both require you to play the same levels over and over again, so maybe not?
Still Picking the Best GTA Game Ever
We've narrowed it down to the final four, and now special guest Evan Narcisse (@EvNarc) has joined the club to decide the best GTA game of all time, between Vice City, San Andreas, GTA 4, and GTA 5. Four may enter but only one will leave.
Picking the Best GTA Game Ever
You find yourself in a city. Your only option? Crime! This week we have special guest Jordan Morris (@Jordan_Morris) filling in for Griffin as we attempt to tackle a tough question: What is the greatest Grand Theft Auto game of all time? And yes, the randomized bracket has returned with a vengeance!
The Dawn of CyberWar is Upon Us (Also Outriders)
This week we're diving into Outriders, a game that sounds about as generic as is possible within the confines of the English language. And yet, we all think it's pretty damn fun! We also attempt to one-up its generic efforts with a new title of our own.
Monster Hunter Rise and Shine
Just when you thought it was safe to buy property in Kamura Village, all these monsters show up and wreck the joint! Justin and Russ team up after a last-minute bug fells Chris Plante (and Griffin deals with a new human child situation). Is this finally the Monster Hunter game to not make you hate Monster Hunter games? Hmm ... hard to say, but worth a shot!
Just the Two of Us . . .
Who better to tackle a mandatory co-op game about divorce than the duo of Plante and Frushtick? The pair take on It Takes Two, the new release from the creators of A Way Out. And with Griffin out in preparation for a forthcoming child and Justin out because divorce makes him sad, it's a complete takeover!

Excited new listener
I just finished catching up on mbmbam so I’ve finally branched out and am loving besties so far. Really funny, it also I’ve already found some great games through it, and felt like I got a chance to experience some games that I was curious about but wasn’t ever going to play myself. I’ve already got three friends listening to it as well, so you better hope we don’t start a competing podcast and come for the throne.
My recent comfort show
I’ve always loved The Besties but lately it has become my number one “comfort show” to listen to when I’m feeling especially anxious. Even though sometimes I’m listening to really old episodes about often totally irrelevant games from 2013, there’s something really nice and calming about listening to the world’s 4 Best Friends talk about games I frequently have never not will ever play. It has gotten me through many really rough days at work in a fairly toxic environment.
Love this show
i just got into video games and I love the hosts. The humor is great.
