    The Attitude of Gratitude

    The Attitude of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of those terms that gets thrown around, but it’s truly a foundational monument that changes the course of our lives. Leaning into gratitude practices can feel hard, but here’s the thing, there are NO rules! In this episode, Pam & Erica discuss their experiences with gratitude and rituals around gratitude that work for them. Listen in as we discuss normalizing the act of thanking your people for their time because we can never get time back and it really means something when folx give it to you! Also, we don’t do it alone, we have each other, and we each have our own personal coaches for accountability. Feel free to reach out to either one of us with questions on what our experiences look like with coaching and learning more about gratitude practices.

    Good Trouble with Jermaca

    Good Trouble with Jermaca

Wow, Happy Pride y’all, and Happy Juneteenth!

    CAUTION! Good Trouble spoilers ahead!!

In this episode, Jermaca Brown joins Erica and Pam again for their first time together since the release of the "Black Womxn Did it First" series last year. This time, we're talking about Jermaca’s unique journey of career transitions & finding spaces of passion. We also dive into a run-through of so much tea from Freeform's series "Good Trouble," and find a way for it all to intertwine. We all found some depth of friendship & some true relatedness through the character's storylines on Good Trouble.

Pride Month is a month-long observance in celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people—and the history, culture, and contributions of these people and their communities. It is not limited to people with these sexualities or gender identities. Pride also celebrates and is celebrated by those with a range of other identities considered outside of the cishet mainstream, including people who are intersex, nonbinary, asexual, pansexual, aromantic, two-spirit, or who identify in other ways or are questioning their sexual or gender identity or expression. The observance of Pride Month (and earlier events like Gay Pride Day) traces back to a parade held in New York City in 1970 to mark the one-year anniversary of what became known as the Stonewall Uprising. This event sometimes referred to simply as Stonewall, started on June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, a New York City bar frequented by gay and gender-nonconforming people (at a time when terms like LGBTQ didn’t yet exist). - Dictionary.com

Juneteenth (short for "June Nineteenth") marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Confederate General Robert E. Lee had surrendered at Appomattox Court House two months earlier in Virginia, but slavery had remained relatively unaffected in Texas—until U.S. General Gordon Granger stood on Texas soil and read General Orders No. 3: "The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free."- History.com

Here is a list of things you can do to honor Juneteenth if you are white:

You can also support Black Owned Businesses and/or give money to Black Creators you are learning from.

Identity & Navigating Personal Responsibility with Oksana

Identity & Navigating Personal Responsibility with Oksana

Trigger Warning: Abuse & Assault is discussed in this episode

In this episode, Erica & Pam had the honor of being joined by Oksana. During our time together we get to know a bit about Oksana’s life, where she’s from, and how she’s navigated her journey with finding awareness of her identity. Our conversation flows igniting from the chaos and pain happening in Ukraine and Oksana’s personal impacts through to so many deeper aspects of how we interact with our own identities and how conflict can often inspire introspection and action. We hope you will take the time to listen to our conversation about our navigation through identity and ways that you can help with relief support in Ukraine and beyond.

Oksana shares more details about Global First Responders (GFR) and how you can support their efforts. GFR is a humanitarian-focused organization specializing in high-impact, short-term trips worldwide. GFR is not affiliated with any religious groups or government sponsors, and instead can be viewed as a "boots on the ground" type of organization. The GFR volunteers work side-by-side with local volunteers and organizations within their area of humanitarian relief (i.e. GFR volunteers in Nepal will have worked with local charities within Nepal to provide the best relief for that country and culture). The focus is on delivering needed healthcare, community development projects, appropriate health education, and overall disaster relief. "GFR has worked in many developing countries to provide sustainable infrastructure and healthcare solutions. To date, Global First Responder has worked in 14 countries worldwide in cooperation with multiple non-government relief organizations." If you'd like to donate to GFR: https://globalfirstresponder.org/donate

100% of donations are utilized to purchase medical equipment, medication, and building supplies and support GFR's overall operations.

    Communication & Friendship

    Communication & Friendship

In this episode, we discuss our personal communication habits, expectations, and how we have evolved. As we sit with one another honestly about our experiences and feelings, we discuss how that’s contributed to our personal growth. Life is messy and complicated, none of us are perfect, and sometimes we let people we love down, but if we take the time to sit with ourselves to discover what we truly need, it can become easier to express it clearly.

We use the lens of our friendship and the challenges we've faced with communication building this podcast to have a deeper discussion about how we've worked through lack of communication, and how we've gotten better at communicating our needs to each other.

In our journeys of healing, we have learned to sit with our feelings and take accountability for our desires. As we continue to learn how to sit with our feelings and get curious about them, we can better communicate our own needs. Join us to hear more in-depth details on how we are learning to take accountability for our communication habits to ensure we are setting boundaries and respecting the boundaries of one another.
