    Pornography and the Teenage Mind

    Pornography and the Teenage Mind

A study on teen use of pornography shows that 54% of young adults ages 12-17 seek out porn at various regularities. One survey showed one in ten visitors to hardcore porn sites are under ten.
Is it ok that so many of today’s teens are looking at porn? Is it ok that little kids are looking at porn? Does porn effect rape culture or does it prevent rape by satisfying sexual desires? Is any kind of porn moral?

This episode of the breakdown examines these critical questions about the biological effects of viewing porn as well as the moral through an interview with an expert, Dr Christy Kane as well as a discussion about statistics surrounding the issue and an analysis of the evidence.

    Depression and Teenage Suicide

    Depression and Teenage Suicide

My name is Zoe, and I’m a 9th grader at Waterloo High School in Austin. I’ve prepared a really important topic today一 teen depression and suicide. It is a huge issue that needs to be brought to light. As we have started the digital age, depression rates among teens are skyrocketing, and the number of teens committing suicide today is increasing. Why is this? We’ll also cover the questions; “What is depression?” “How is it caused?” “How does it affect the brain?” “What can be done about it?” And many other questions you might have about this topic. I’ll be joined in the studio by Dr. Christina Swan. Thank you for listening!

We’d appreciate you rating us on iTunes greatly.

The physical, mental, and spiritual affects of sex in the Teenage Mind pt. 2

The physical, mental, and spiritual affects of sex in the Teenage Mind pt. 2

This two part series in the breakdown focuses on the teenager and how sex affects one, physically and spiritually. We begin with the physical: what are STDs and why are they dangerous? How do hormones effect someone after sex? Pregnancy?

Part two ends with the spiritual: what are the thoughts following casual sex? How does marital abstinence (waiting for marriage) change the way sex is viewed? How does it affect future sexual relationships? How does sex affect you mentally? How does pornography play a role in your view of sex? How should you address the topic with your children/close relations?

    A Proper Diet for Teenagers

    A Proper Diet for Teenagers

My recording was about how a teenager like myself can improve our diet in many steps
and ways. One suggesting a gluten-free diet to limit our wheat intake. Another to tell how
much of each food group a teenager should be having, such as proteins, vegetables, grains and
fruits. In addition I explain a small section on the effects of caffeine. Relating to caffeine, I
also explained why sodas are bad for you and how you can deal with the love for them. Overall I hope you enjoy it and if you didn't know some things about a good diet, and I hope you receive good information about it when you listen to it.

Yes yes yes!

Child and teen therapist here! I love this podcast. I recommend it to my clients and parents to help them get a good beginning grasp on complex issues! Easy to understand but cultivates a sense of urgency with mental health issues. A great place to start if you want to learn more about yourself or a loved one. I love they are taking the taboo off of hard to talk about issues!

One of the best podcast in existence

This is such a good podcast! The episodes are so informative and well researched. My favorite ones are the one that dives deep into how depression effects teens and the one examining how sex effects you from a mental, physical and spiritual perspective. The hosts are interesting and truly understand their topics.
