Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 347-Hops Outside:Ep.25-It's not all Sanitizer at Church Street Brewing

"This edition expands on our YouTube Hops Outside episode, and continues on the conversation with Church Street's head brewer, Chuck Fort, and marketing manager, Jace Rhea. Joining the Brit, is co-host and Hopvine brewer, Ken McMullen. This is another Zoom audio edition, so bear with us on the sound as it relies on the participants mic quality which is usually a laptop or smartphone mic!
If you would like to view part 1, then head over to our YouTube channel! In this podcast episode, we explore how to add Siggi's yogurt to save a beer and the trials of adding puree and the potential for exploding cans! We chat on how the industry has changed over the past 2 months and how Church Street has managed to weather that storm and remain a force in the Chicago-area craft industry. The lads also express their opinions on how patio drinking has been established and what they feel are most people's approaches to this 'new normal', a phrase Jace is not in love with! Note: All opinions expressed do not represent that of anybody else other than the person expressing them!! So, is all this outdoor drinking going to change the styles we drink, for example more lagers? Chuck tells us his thoughts, and then find out about a new yeast strain, Hornindel Kveik from Omega, and Jace tips us off about what to look for from CSB in the future.

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 346-Hops Outside:Ep.24-Art History Brewing

"This is our first Zoom conference video-audio podcast! And what better than to spotlight on one of the newest breweries in the Chicago area, and a visit with Art History Brewing in Geneva, IL. Yesterday we released our video interview and tour of the location, and in this podcast we have the audio from that, plus the extended interview with head brewer, Greg Browne, and owner, Tom Rau. From the quality of the brews on offer so far, and they've only been open two weeks, we feel there are great things ahead for these guys. We especially like the Czech-tapper which is producing pints of lager with wet foam...wet foam? Yup, wet foam. If you need to skip the first part, then fast forward 29 minutes to tune in for the extended audio interview, where we learn about Tom and Greg's brewing history, and more about the beers to be brewed in the future weeks at AHB. Na zdraví!

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 345-Pubcast 345 - It's Not All Green For The Irish!

"It's Brother Chimp Brewing in the house, as we welcome Steve Newman and Jessica Voigt to the pub studio. They bring samples of their Irish Red and Irish Dry Stout which we are putting up against Church Street's Crimson Clover, and Buffalo Creek's Burning Red, plus two classic Irish stouts. And all this goes to show that not all beer will be green as we provide some suggestions on what you might want to drink this coming March 17! Slante!

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 344-Doris and Rick Kennay of Kennay Farms Distilling

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 344-Doris and Rick Kennay of Kennay Farms Distilling

"Continuing our periodic series of podcasts of Illinois farm-to-breweries, The Brit and Ken McMullen head west on I-88 to Rochelle IL, where they visit Kennay Farms Distillery and Brewery. This is a step into the unknown for the team as the craft beer aspect plays second fiddle to the distilling operation, but as they brew craft beer as well, we make sure we sample a small selection of what they have on offer. Doris and Rick Kennay head up this family business which is just starting to produce a variety of spirits, some of which won't be ready for another 2 or 3 years, so you have to have a lot of patience in this business! It is a unique environment as the location is a re-purposed theater, so if you feel like a couple of drinks up in the balcony, this is just the place to come. It's a fascinating story that Rick and Doris have to tell, so grab your favorite hooch and listen in! Cheers!

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 343-The Wiz at 93 Octane Brewing

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 343-The Wiz at 93 Octane Brewing

"It's a visit to the latest of the breweries to open in the Fox Valley area, 93 Octane in St. Charles. The Brit heads over to the taproom and chats at the bar with head brewer Nick 'Wiz' Wisniewski and brewery director, Chris Peckat. We find out that their tap population has rapidly expanded since they opened their doors in November, and there are brews for all tastes available. The Alt beer hits a note with The Brit, but the stouts are also high on the must-taste list. Listen in and hear how these guys are making an impression on the western suburb craft beer scene! Cheers!!

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 342-The BIG Barleywine Show

Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee-Show 342-The BIG Barleywine Show

"Our annual barleywine show and this time we coincide with our collaboration release with Riverlands Brewing and Hopvine Brewing of our English Barleywine, A Wicked Googly. We have guest brewers Steve Kamp and Dan Rosenberg from Evil Horse and MyGrain Brewing, pplus Riverlands brewers Eric Bramwell and Dave Marck. Co-hosts are Hopvine's Ken McMullen and Mike (Lingo) Lingafelter. We have 8 big brews to taste including last years favorite from Evil Horse. Tons of conversation and tasting makes this our usual bumper edition! Cheers!

I LOVE THIS PODCAST!!!

I love listening to this podcast, it is very entertaining and I always feel like I have been on a visit with good friends after listening. Phil and Lingo have a great chemistry and they interact as only good friends can. I like listening to shows from the basement bar as well as the visits to breweries and festivals. Could I complain about one thing that I would like to see improved? I would like to hear LOTS more adventures from the Brit and Yankee!! Thanks guys for being awesome!!!!
