The Broken Meeple Show - Episode 52 - Can Bad Rulebooks Kill A Game?

OK, I'm going to do this episode with noisy neighbours and a splitting headache :P But I think it went well!

First I report on how the summer is affecting the channel and how publishers are disconnecting from me for the honest review format. I therefore make a plea to any fans to contribute to the Patreon even for just $1 a month because that's what keeps the channel going.

A few new games have been announced and whether it's a odd re-do, a god awful cover, or the prospect of saving a 2 player game from dusting off on my shelf, they need to be talked about!

I then take a game I never did a review on from my shelf and talk about it - this week it's the classic Diamonds from Stronghold Games.

Then for a quick discussion topic - can rulebooks ever put you off a game from the get-go? Even if you like the other parts of the game, will a bad or fiddly or complex rulebook put you off your enjoyment?

The Broken Meeple Show - Episode 51 - What Do I Want In An Expansion?

What a long couple of weeks. No UK Expo for me, but the family wedding I was at went perfectly! But the channel has declining views lately, possibily from the result of blacklisting and everyone being focused on Kickstarter content lately and it's concerning.

But on to the good stuff. I talk about my first impressions of a little hidden gem called Songbirds that completely surprised me in how scary it was for its charming look. Then to review a game on my shelf that I never did a video for, I'll finally do a quick review of Hall of the Mountain King. And then finally to discuss, I talk about the factors I look out for when I hear a game is getting an expansion - what do I want to do

Oh my word this is a long one! Thoughts on the show as well as a new idea for "live" reviews. A ton of new games I've acquired, my thoughts on Dead Reckoning plus a mini rant on a dumb social media respond I received, UK Games Expo Awards and a brief KS discussion topic! This episode has it all! And I hope you enjoy!

The Broken Meeple Show - Episode 46 - In Sickness & In Gaming

Now that I'm recovered from Covid, it's time to get back into gear! While we're on the subject of sickness, let's talk about what factors make you sick of a game over time as suggested by my loyal Patreons. And as I've been playing a bunch of games lately, I'm going to talk about them all! Raiders of Scythia, Paleo and Nidavellir finally leave the shelf of shame!

The Broken Meeple Show - Episode 48 - Remember, It's Only A Game

The most exhausting episode I've ever done. The highs are all good solid highs but there are a couple of controversial topics that need to be discussed and opinions given and well...............it took a lot of breath from my lungs!

I give a quick talk about Baycon, and talk about a cute little fishy game I played call Aqua Garden. I then perform two full reviews. One of Cryptid: Urban Legends from Osprey Games and another for Fort, which begins the new segment where I talk in detail about a game on my shelf that I never did a review for.

But then we have to talk about some controversial news, including conquistadors and shipping calamities. Remember everyone...........respect all opinions........it's only a game.

    00:00 - Introduction and Baycon
    06:33 - What I've Played (Aqua Garden)
12:50 - Review (Cryptid: Urban Legends)
    21:45 - Review (Fort + Expansion)

    57:35 - News (Marvel Zombicide)

Smart, opinionated and unapologetic.

The Broken Meeple is one of my favorite board game media creators. Luke has strong opinions which I greatly appreciate, he let’s you know what he think. And while I don’t always agree, I admire his insights and knowledge about games. I love his YouTube channel as well. If you want true and honest insight, this is the place.

Simply the best!

Whether you enjoy listening to his first impression of games or a full review you will get top notch info. His angry British rants are hilarious! I love this podcast!

Far too much negativity

I subscribed due to The Broken Meeple and Every Night is Game Night top 100 cooperative games. But far too much negativity is this podcast. Dropping.
