The squibs get damper as we succumb to our second straight 1 nil loss in the league. We look at what went wrong against Leicester before considering what (just about) went right against Rapid, ending with a preview of Dundalk at home and a thorough dismantling of their club crest. Look away now, martlet fans.

    70: The old wiener derby

We return from the international break to more than familiar territory: a demoralising defeat away to a ‘big six’ club. The dampest of damp squibs takes the spotlight this week, as we wonder whether the narrow margin of the loss to Man City represents progress in itself. With the Europa League back on the horizon, we check in our first opponents Rapid Vienna, before ending with questions about Aubameyang, Willian, and what we got up to during the interlull (ans: lots of telly).

    69: Powerful eyebrow nightmares

Chris Wilder’s gilet is crap and nowhere near as good as Mikel Arteta’s glorious and also extremely classy puffer jacket of dreams, and for that reason alone we should’ve been awarded the three points. Luckily for us, we managed to score 2 goals and Sheffield United only scored 1, rendering that particular argument completely and utterly superfluous. We review our win against the Blades, as well as transfer inactivity, the greatest penalty taker of all-time, and – once again – Mesut the invisible millstone. Enjoy.

Well, at least that’s Anfield out of the way for the season – oh wait, we’re literally playing there again on Thursday – oh wait, that’s only the league cup – oh wait, but they beat us in that on pens last year – oh wait, but we’ve already beaten them on pens this year – oh wait, and they gave us a massive big shield for doing so and oh wait, it’s such a great shield and it’s ours and oh wait, no one can take that away from us, do you understand, NO ONE. Good, thanks.

    67: Selective numerology

Two wins from our first two games of the season with a trip to Anfield on the horizon – now, where have we seen that before? We cover the jammy three points against West Ham and wonder if it was simply a bad day at the office or cause for greater concern. We also hear about Tom’s father-son tour of the Emirates before finishing up with questions aplenty in Dan’s digital sack.

We woke up today with this feeling. That better things are coming our way. And if the sunshine has a meaning. It's telling us not to let things get in our way. When the rainy days are dying, gotta keep on, keep on trying, all the bees and birds are flying (ahh ahh ahh). Never let go, gotta hold on and, non-stop 'til the break of dawn and, keep movin' don't stop rockin' (ahh ahh ahh)... Laca-zette, Ga-briel, Pierre-Emerick-Aubame-yang. I know it's too much, but it's okay. We'll keep on winning games anyway. Enjoy the pod 👀

A breath of fresh air

I really love this podcast. It's a good mix of analysis, banter, humor, anecdotes and great art from three friends who love the Arsenal. A friend of mine from our local Gooner family in Detroit told me about them and I've looked forward to each episode ever since. God willing I'll meet them in the flesh one day to have a pint and take in a match. Well done lads! Up the Gunners!!
