BOA Update June 2021
Here is a brief update about what has been going on with Building One Another.
One wonderful way be a noticer of oneself is undertake the spiritual exercise known as Examen. Examen is a two-step process of reflection. A great time to do it is at the end of the day. First, reflect on moments of “consolation,” that is moments that encouraged you during the day. Second, reflect on moments of “desolation,” that is moments that discouraged you. As you walk mentally walk through all of those moments, be aware of the presence of the Lord who said, “I am with you, always,” in ever
BOA #88 - Are You a Collector or a Noticer
There are two kinds of travelers, the collectors and the noticers.
A collector has to see everything: every point of interest, every special site, every museum and every exhibit. They rush through countless sights “collecting” them, in essence taking a quick picture, checking off the sight-seeing list and moving on.
A noticer notices, takes the time to observe and to reflect, is not in a hurry and makes no effort to “see it all.” The noticer wants to see and to see deeply.
BOA #87 - Enjoy God's Fireworks!
It’s easy to go through life staring at a computer or a smart phone or a desk or a road or to be so preoccupied with various matters that we literally do not see the glory of our Lord around us – in the beauty of nature and in the people around us! Wake up! See the beauty around you, share that beauty with others, and together know the presence of the Lord who loves you!
BOA #86 - Find Your Still Center
In the midst of a horrendous week, with deadlines pressing, and uptight people pushing, it is easy to become overwhelmed. In these situations reach out to the God who loves you and find your center. Do you have a “still center” in the midst of your whirlwind of pressing demands and mind-absorbing activities? A wonderful way to find this center is to spend some time reflecting and meditating on the words of this marvelous Psalm, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
BOA #85 -Easter Confidence
A common English euphemism when speaking of a person who has died is to say that he or she has, “passed away.” Using that expression, though, hides the reality of death. It is more simple and true to just say he or she died. Acknowledging this truth and naming the loss is what grief is all about. However, grief for the Christian is not a hopeless grief because of the genuine confidence about the future that Easter brings.
Practical knowledge of the Christian Faith.
I have been a follower of Dr. Ott’s message for the past 47 years. He speaks truth to the believers and non believers alike.
God uses Stan to draw the nonbelievers towards God’s truths. AND the believers hear God’s word in a new, understandable way.
When God’s truth(s) is/are spoken by man God multiplies them many fold for the world to hear.
Thanks Dr. Ott.
