He Keeps Making History!
With Robert Lewandowski failing to make history to become the first Pole to win the Ballon D’or, his rival striker made history this past weekend against Wolfsburg. Erling Haaland, who has been out injured for some time now, came on in the second half and netted his 50th Bundesliga goal in the 80th, thus becoming the youngest player to reach the 50 goal mark in the Bundesliga. Haaland has made history by also achieving these 50 goals in 50 appearances; the Norwegian has also grabbed himself a cool 9 assists. Speaking on the SLPodcast’s ‘The Bundesliga Connection’ DW Sports Correspondent and German football expert Kres Harrington says that he didn’t expect Haaland to even feature on the game day as the club had kept his return under wraps, “Haaland himself might have pushed for a return.”
On the latest episode of The Bundesliga Connection, DW Sports Correspondent and German football expert Kres Harrington speaks about how Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen had the chance to join the top 4 in the League. No One Saw That Coming...
A strong Bayern Munich were left stunned by FC Augsburg this past weekend as the reigning Bundesliga Champions failed to claim points, losing 2-1. Pads Pederson opened the scoring for the home side in the 23rd minute, with his teammate Andre Hahn doubling the score in the 35th. Bayern’s Lewandowski brought one back for Munich in the 38th minute, however, that is how the score stayed for the rest of the match. Bayern Munich clearly dominated the stats with 80% ball possession and they managed to string together well over 700 passes, however they could find the final ball to provide Augsburg with a setback. Speaking on the SL Podcast, DW Sports Correspondent and German Football expert Kres Harringtons questions the fee the Bayern Coach Julian Naggelsman requested to join the champions of Germany, saying “They’ve been booted out of the German Cup and now this…” Kres also goes to speak about how Marcel Sabitzer hasn’t found his feet yet, which comes as a worry as he and Nagelsmann spent years at RB Leipzig together.

Everyone Wants Haaland!
With the transfer window around the corner, the question that is on everyone’s mind is where will Erling Haaland go if he chooses to leave. The Norwegian has been spearheading Borussia Dortmund’s attack for the last 2 seasons having scored over 50 goals since joining Dortmund. Every club that is looking for an out-and-out striker, has Haaland on their radar. Recent reports show that Liverpool have expressed interest in signing “The Terminator;” yet another English side that could be willing to pay top dollar for a top player. Could we see the son of Alf-Inge Håland in England? Let’s not forget last year, Chelsea FC showed interest in Haaland, as well as both clubs from Manchester. However, Haaland has a clause in his contract that would allow him to activate his release clause for 75-100 million euros. Reports also suggest that Dortmund are on the verge of offering Haaland a new contact which could see him earn over 18 million Euros per year, making him the highest-paid player in his team.

Kres also talks about Germany’s chances in next year's FIFA World Cup, saying “Germany could be a problem for other teams, they were humbled in Russia in 2018 and they have it all to prove.”
Nagelsmann: It was A Difficult Game
Bayern Munich’s hot run of form seems to be a recurring trend after they beat Benfica in the UEFA Champions League 5-2, with star striker Robert Lewandowski netting a hattrick and almost a fourth. The reigning Bundesliga champions came up against Freiburg SC in a League match this past weekend with no one knowing what the outcome would be, as Freiburg were the only unbeaten team in the league before this Bayern match-up. However, Robert Lewandowski's formidable form continued as he netted a goal in the 75th minute to give Bayern maximum points. Freiburg managed a consolation goal in the 93rd minute and Leon Goretzka scored his goal in the 30th. Bayern emerged victorious, as Freiburg suffered their first defeat of the League, 2-1.

Is There Blood In The Water?
Bayern recently suffered an embarrassing, yet historic 5-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach in the DFB-Pokal cup. A newspaper publication released an article stating that a few players from Munich managed to receive the worst ratings in history. However, the reigning Bundesliga champions showed their winning mentality and turned the heat on against Union Berlin, winning that game 5-2, to show that they still mean business. Their next fixture isn’t going to be a walk in the park as they welcome the only unbeaten team in the league in SC Freiburg. Breisgau-Brasilianer are currently sitting in 3rd on the log, having scored a cool 17 goals with only 7 conceded.
Speaking on the SL Podcast, DW Sports correspondent and German football expert Kres Harrington goes on to say that “Bayern have blood in the water” after their defeat to Gladbach. Harrington explains that this could be a ‘mouth-watering’ fixture as log leaders take on third place.

Harrington also goes on to review Borussia Dortmund’s matches, without Erling Haaland, saying “There is potential talent untouched.”
Will His Absence Hurt Dortmund?
As The 2021/2022 Bundesliga season continues, Bayern Munich are proving their dominance once again, have scored 9 goals in two league matches, and 13 goals in their last 3 including their match in the UEFA Champions League against Benfica. However, Borussia Dortmund are also showing that they mean business having won 4 out of their last 5 league games, and sitting second on the table only one point behind Bayern Munich. But things may turn nasty for Dortmund as their star striker, Erling Haaland is going to be sidelined for a few weeks after the Norwegian picked up a hip flexor injury. Haaland has scored 9 out of Dortmund’s 25 league goals, and not having him play for the next few weeks may see Dortmund struggle a little bit.
On the latest episode of the Bundesliga Connection, Bayern Munich’s continued dominance is discussed. DW Sports correspondent and German football expert Kres Harrington breaks down Borussia Dortmund’s injury problems and praises a certain Nigerian striker currently plying his trade in Germany!
