Now is a Perfect Time :: Episode 25

Now is a Perfect Time :: Episode 25

    Welcome Friends!

It's finally 2021, can you believe it? We know that you’re as happy as we are to turn the page on 2020! We are so excited about this episode, the first one of Season 2 of the Business & Learning show!

In today's episode, Tammy and Alaina discuss the idea of everything being perfect before you launch something. It doesn't matter; there will never be the "perfect" time. Start it now, get things good enough, and see what happens. Remember, it is ok to fail. It' is how we learn. Also, you don’t want to miss Tammy’s attempt at her Dave Hollis impression!

We also discuss some other important topics :

    1. We learn best by failing. It is important to get out there and fail. Launch that project, see what your audience wants, FAIL, and make it better the next time around.

    2. Growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone. Our comfort zones are just that, comfortable. To grow and reach your full potential, you need to step outside where it is difficult and challenging.

    3. Instagram and social media is not reality. It is the highlight reel. We only put out the best content on social media. It is full of lies, and anyone that tells you otherwise is also lying to you and themselves.

    Favorite quotes:

"We all have to start somewhere!"

    "Social Media lies, y'all! "

Today is Black Friday, aka The busiest shopping day of the world for retailers! There will be great deals on buying Christmas gifts for your friends and loved ones all over the place. However, this year we want you to think a little differently when it comes to your Christmas shopping list! Like everything about 2020, it has been especially difficult for small businesses. They need our help. We urge you to shop in your local communities and support small businesses.

    In this episode,  we discuss:

    1. Skip the big box stores this year.
    2. Buy gift cards and experience-type gifts
    3. If searching for items online, scroll past the first page of results, and look at the small businesses.

The Power of No :: Episode 23

The Power of No :: Episode 23

    Welcome Friends!

We are so excited about this episode, the first one of Season 2 of the Business & Learning show!

In today’s episode, Tammy and Alaina are talking all about the power of no boundaries and how your “WHY” needs to be specific and strong to get you through those difficult seasons on your entrepreneurial journey!

We recorded this special episode during our annual meeting retreat this past October! We had so much fun that weekend with planning our 2021 goals, reflecting on the last year, and tons of laughs. Over those few days, we discovered the implementation of boundaries and saying no to projects that didn’t serve our business and our clients well. The power of no is essential to creating and maintaining boundaries, staying on task, and growing a thriving and sustainable business.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    1. No is a complete sentence.

    2. Setting boundaries is key to staying on track.

    3. Set goals that are mean something specific for you and not someone else

    Favorite quotes:

    “Boundaries are your friend.”

“It’s either a HELL YES, or it is a no! “

Don't Be Scared To Go BIG :: Episode 22

Don't Be Scared To Go BIG :: Episode 22

Both Tammy and Alaina are busy, working moms and one thing they always hear is "balance". Ha! You know, sometimes you just can't be all or do all. And this is okay. You can still go big and not be balanced... it's about finding what works for you and your family one day at a time.

Today's guest knows all about this as she built a career one building block at a time, but the important thing that she learned that changed the success was when she learned how to take chances and step outside her comfort zone. Growth doesn't happen from a place of comfort.

In this episode,  we also discuss:

Building a career one building block at a time
Taking chances and stepping outside of your comfort zone

Building a Family Owned Business :: Episode 21

On this episode of The Business and Learning show, we are talking with Renee Harris, entrepreneur, and homeschool mama.

Renee Harris started Madeon Skin Care when she found 3 key ingredients to fix her extreme dry skin. After making lotion bars in her kitchen and finding that they also helped her son's seasonal eczema, an opportunity came up to sell at a local farmer's market. From there, interest grew and she took her business online. After two years, Renee and her family made MadeOn their sole income.

    In this episode,  we discuss:

The importance of casting a vision for your business and discussing that with your team

The fun and sometimes struggles of working side by side with your family

Renee’s  unexpected journey to being an entrepreneur
