    23. Taking Health Into My Own Hands

It’s been a little while, but today’s episode is going to be a solo episode, because I want to give you a bit of a life update! I’m actually going to be taking a break from the podcast (for now), and really focusing on spending quality time with my kids and family. I’ve also had quite the health journey over the last year and a half, and I’ve felt called to share what that has looked like.  Taking my health into my own hands has been quite the journey, and it’s given me so much clarity along the way. I know my journey is far from over, but I’m incredibly grateful for this life-changing experience, and the true healing I’ve been able to undergo. I hope my story encourages you in some way, and empowers you to take control of your health, and ultimately, your life. Thank you for being here - I can’t wait to be back with you in the future!! In this episode, I cover: What my health was like growing up + the debilitating stomach issues I experienced in college, and what that led to My 2 very different pregnancy experiences + what it looked like as I began navigating postpartum life as a Mom of 2 How prioritizing rest and truly ‘slowing up’ has not only benefited me, but my family as well Several ‘healthier’ habits that I’ve been implementing for myself and my family The life-changing growth and healing I’ve experienced on my journey so far, while also knowing that I’ll never be completely ‘done’ either How I’ve become more in tune with my body + my kids and their needs, and why it’s necessary for me to take a break from podcasting for now Resources & Links: Dietitian: Kennedy Youngren Reading Chart download Supporting Our Littles eBook Kids Task Chart [FREE download]   Buy some 2383 Farms Beef! 2383 Farms All Beef Cookbook Check out some recipes on our blog   Connect with Amanda: Follow on Instagram @2383farms Follow on Facebook @2383farms Check out my website Subscribe to our beef email list  Subscribe to my health journey email list Email Amanda at amanda@2383farms.com   Related Episodes  Episode 14: Functional Medicine with Dr. Mayer   Make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! 21. We Can Work Outside the Home & Still Be Great Moms with Megan Pippitt

Today’s episode features Megan Pippitt, a fellow farm wife and mom in Nebraska, lover of a lox-tox lifestyle, and (more recently), a sourdough enthusiast. Megan Pippitt is a working farm mom attempting to find a little balance. She does her best to manage her time efficiently so she can maximize time with her family. Megan has really enjoyed building a community with other farm/rural wives and moms on social media; you can find her regularly sharing her favorite recipes, discount codes, advice, and more on her platform! Megan and I both work outside of the home too; the whole ‘working mom’ narrative definitely comes with its own perks and drawbacks. I was excited to chat with her more about what that ‘happy medium’ with motherhood and a career outside of the home looks like for her and her family.   In this episode, we cover: Finding your ‘happy medium’ with motherhood and working outside the home The very real feeling of ‘mom guilt’ that plagues many moms who work outside the home + turning to prayer and seeking God when you’re struggling with this Providing an extra layer of stability by working outside the home as a farm wife & mom Megan’s journey with sourdough so far + why it’s been a fun learning experience for her The importance of understanding you don’t need to ‘do’ motherhood alone and can ask for help + not going to the internet for all of the Mom advice, tips, etc.   Resources & Links: Reading Chart download Supporting Our Littles eBook Kids Task Chart [FREE download] Buy some 2383 Farms Beef! 2383 Farms All Beef Cookbook Check out some recipes on our blog   Connect with Megan: Follow on Instagram @megan_pippitt   Connect with Amanda: Follow on Instagram @2383farms Follow on Facebook @2383farms Check out my website Subscribe to our beef email list  Email Amanda at amanda@2383farms.com   Make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! 20. Explaining Crop Insurance with Zoe Kaiser

Today’s episode features Zoe Kaiser, row-crop farmer, rancher, farmer’s wife, farmer’s daughter, and Crop Insurance agent. Zoe lives in western Kansas with her husband; they’re both 5th generation farmers, and between the two of them, they have a lot of irons in the fire! We’re explaining crop insurance in this episode - specifically from an agent’s perspective, because this is the world that Zoe and I both work in. Crop insurance plays a vital role for families and their farms, because really, it’s how they’re able to protect their livelihoods (no matter what kind of crazy weather occurs that year). We’re talking about the importance of multi-peril crop insurance, terms like the 10-year average and APH, a variety of policies and products that may be beneficial in protecting your family (depending on where you live), and more.   In this episode, we cover: Why crop insurance is like a critical safety net The importance of Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MCPI) + what the 10 year average and APH program is The complicated nature of hail + why basic policies like hail and wind insurance are necessary (especially in certain geographical areas) Various insurance products and policies that can protect you and your family in multiple different ways Precipitation and drought-like conditions + how this greatly impacts planting, harvesting, and everything in between   Resources & Links: Reading Chart download Supporting Our Littles eBook Kids Task Chart [FREE download] Buy some 2383 Farms Beef! 2383 Farms All Beef Cookbook Check out some recipes on our blog   Connect with Zoe: Email Zoe at zlkaiser07@gmail.com Follow on Instagram @zoemariekaiser Check out her website   Connect with Amanda: Follow on Instagram @2383farms Follow on Facebook @2383farms Check out my website Subscribe to our beef email list  Email Amanda at amanda@2383farms.com   Make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! 19. How To Begin Homesteading with Erin Fischer

Today’s episode is featuring Erin Fischer, a wife, mom, and small business owner residing in a tiny town in Oklahoma. I recently connected with Erin on social media, and I instantly fell in love with not only her enjoyable sense of humor, but her message surrounding homesteading, and why it’s something that is totally attainable for everyone. While Erin is a born and raised city girl, she always envisioned a life like she has now. She feels deeply connected to the land she calls home, and is truly embracing her role as (what she refers to herself) a ‘crappy homesteader’. In this episode, we cover: Erin’s journey from city living to fully embracing homesteading in a way that works for her and her family Why homesteading doesn’t have to be a one-size-fits-all, but instead, choosing to focus on the well-being of YOUR unique home and life Finding your balance with homesteading, and not getting caught up in the ‘all or nothing’ mentality Making the decision to actually START your homesteading journey and what you’re interested in + taking baby steps when doing so How to get started with bulk shopping + why this may be a financial game changer for you and your family The power of the pivot, and how this applies to not only to homesteading, but also motherhood, relationships, career, and more Resources & Links: Reading Chart download Supporting Our Littles eBook Kids Task Chart [FREE download] Buy some 2383 Farms Beef! 2383 Farms All Beef Cookbook Check out some recipes on our blog Connect with Erin: Follow on Instagram @thefischerupper Check out her website Connect with Amanda: Follow on Instagram @2383farms Follow on Facebook @2383farms Check out my website Subscribe to our beef email list  Email Amanda at amanda@2383farms.com Make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode!
