Welcome to the Buzby Dog Podcast! In this podcast it is our goal to help you discover how to “Buzby” your dog so that they can live the longest, healthiest life possible.

My clients are their dog’s advocates—their champions. They are never complacent, never sitting on the sidelines when they recognize a need they could impact by taking action. My passion is to share this “Buzby” mentality when it comes to being a pet parent. I want to empower you to work in partnership with your veterinarian. The reality is that your veterinarian only sees your dog a few hours a year, while you spend as many hours a day together as possible.

Our dogs are such an integral part of our family. I want to use this podcast to help empower and encourage you so that when you lay your head on your pillow at night (probably right next to your dog’s), you can rest easy knowing you are doing everything you can to give your dog the best life possible. So welcome! And thanks for listening! Our goal is to build a community of pet parents who “Buzby” their dogs or want to know more about how to care for their dogs in a proactive way. I believe in the power of Buzby Dog Owners. You can do this; we can help!

    Prednisone 101

    Prednisone 101

In episode 68, Dr. Buzby revealed how a lingering health concern led her to seek care from a specialist, who prescribed steroids (prednisone) as a necessary part of her treatment. As an integrative veterinarian, she found this to be a “hard pill to swallow”.
That personal process offered insight into what many pet owners face when their dogs are prescribed prednisone. This episode is all about those concerns, the reasons to be concerned about prednisone and other steroids, as well as the reasons they are still an essential part of every veterinary (and human) pharmacy.
Simply put, steroids are the most powerful class of anti-inflammatory drugs that doctors can prescribe. Dr. Buzby dispels the myths, focuses on the facts, and helps give you a better overview of this commonly used medication.

    Disaster Preparation with Dogs

Even during an emergency, your furry family members will need your love, care and attention. Traveling in evacuation for Hurricane Florence, Dr. Buzby shares 8 tips for preparing your family—furry and otherwise—for a disaster.

    1. Have a written plan and a backup plan.
    2. Keep your dog’s current medical records with you.

    5. Provide for your dog’s physical needs—water, food, bowls, leash, etc.
