Tina fell 20 feet while in a Canyon with a person she met on Instagram‪.‬ The Canyons Are Calling

    • Wilderness

Tina lives an adventurous life, and loves adrenaline filled sports like snowboarding and mountain biking. She met a guy on Instagram that also loves those same sports. He invited her and a friend to go to Moab Ut to do some Canyoneering. She jumped on the opportunity as canyoneering was something that she had wanted to try. Thew met up in Moab the night before and talked about the canyon the next day. After waiting for the rain to stop they descended Rock of Ages canyon. On the last rappel Tina decided to go first. They guy set the anchor using one 10 ft back from the one he normally had used. While Tina was rappelling on a double stand setup, she came to the end of one rope. Not knowing that was not ok, she continued to rappel, pulling the rope down as she fell 20-25 feet. She broke both ankles and her pelvis.  She suggests if anyone wants to get into this sport that they get training before they go out with a stranger. Make sure you know who is leading you and that they have the skills to get everyone through safely.  I will be posting the interview with the guy next so you can learn why he set the anchor the way he did and what he learned and does different now.
