You don’t have to be particularly skilled to get these results. This is called the IKEA effect, and Cara shares how to use this build-it-yourself effect to improve your personal and team commitment to your project.

Perfect for coming out of pandemic life

I read “Rise” when it came out a few years ago, and it inspired me to upend my family’s entire life and move states away from our family, friends, and everything we had ever known. That move changed our lives in the best ways possible, and I would not have had the motivation without Cara’s book and reading her family’s story. Flash forward to now, and this podcast is everything I never knew I needed, especially a year plus into covid life. Each episode offers something that speaks to where you are and helps you get unstuck. It’s perfect! Definitely give this a listen!!

A podcast that actually teaches you HOW to do the work

Most motivational show out there! So many podcasters only talk about manifesting and generic mindset stuff but Cara actually gets into detail about how you can do the work to get what you want in life. Because let's face it meditation and mantras are only going to get you so far. If you want to get unstuck you have to get in and do the work (and actually finish the work) —THAT is what this podcast helps you do.

Some much-needed motivation!

Many years ago, I worked with Cara when she was a computer programmer, raising four children by herself & building her own house. I was always impressed (okay...in awe) of all she was able to accomplish. I was trying to restore an old house with only two kids and I had a spouse helping to share the load so I know how hard it was and she was still running circles around me. Fast forward many years and I'm still programming while Cara has moved on to her new career. I saw on her Facebook page that she had started this Podcast with the latest topic being "How to Get Your Life in Order When Things Feel Out of Control". Based on past experience, I couldn't think of anyone I've known who would have better insight into this particular topic so I decided to give it a listen. During the pandemic, I had big hopes of plowing through a huge backlog of tasks. This did NOT happen. In fact, the backlog of projects grew bigger as did my lethargy (...or is it depression from not hitting my goals?). Cara's insight into these problems was a positive motivation to let me know that even people I admire for their accomplishments struggle with these same obstacles. It might have been better if I hadn't started with the last one and rolled through them in reverse chronological order but I did finish feeling excited to jump back into my projects (e.g. building a wooden sailboat, restoring an old motorcycle, building some furniture for my apartment, etc.). So a big thanks and highly recommended.
