Sharmane Fury 'Militantly Mixed, Blerd, Mental Health & LGBTQ+ and Cats' The Catmaste Chronicles Podcast

This week Michelle talks with Sharmane Fury podcast host of 3 podcasts Militantly Mixed, which explores issues of race and identity from the perspective of mixed-race people. BlerdcoMixed, a podcast created by two comic book fans discussing Blackness and being Mixed blerd. Lastly, Bifurious a safe space podcast for all LGBTQ+ folk that feels marginalized by the mainstream community. She also owns Masks By Mane; an online face-mask store offering a variety of handmade designs and Gulf Coast Cosmos, a comic bookshop currently online but moving to physical premises in Houston in the mere future. In this episode, we talk about how all of Sharmane's wonderful podcasts started and the stories behind them. We delve deep into our personal experiences of abuse at the hands of family members, so please be aware of this trigger warning. We chat about our backgrounds and what we love most about being a Mixed Race person. We chat about sexual orientations and black and other ethnic minorities being sidelined in the mainstream LGBTQ+ community. Sharmane gives us an insight into the background of starting her two businesses Masks by Mane and Gulf Coast Cosmos, which was born out of Sharmanes love and passion for comic books that started during childhood. Lastly, we move on to discuss another huge passion of Sharmane's Cats. She gives us a great introduction to her 4 cats all named after Star Wars extended universe dark side characters and tells us about their personalities. But cats are way more than just pets to Sharmane and it is clear that she loves them all so dearly and fondly thinks about the ones who are no longer with us.
