    • Politics

The discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves at residential schools for Indigenous children in Canada has prompted a reckoning  within the U.S. over its treatment of Indigenous communities. We discuss what it means to grapple with this history, especially in light of the recent celebration of our nation’s founding on July 4th.
We also shed some light on the recent controversy over the Citizenship Law in Israel, an amendment to which bars Palestinians and citizens of some Arab states from gaining citizenship in Israel even if they marry an Israeli. The law expired Wednesday night after the Knesset failed to pass a renewal measure, despite the law having a large majority of support from lawmakers.
