A celebration of video game soundtracks from every generation and the emotions we all have experienced through them. They can be beautiful, grandiose orchestras or intricately composed chip tunes. Either way, they help create the full experiences we have with games and should be honored. Mike and Jon are here to do just that.

For the game's 30th birthday, the hosts cover Squaresoft's FINAL fantasy for the 16 bit generation of gaming. It's a game that pulled no punches. Mike tells a tale of his childhood and the first experiences with this game that helped shape his gaming life. Jon appreciates the light-hearted and at times comedic beats deep inside the otherwise dark album.

    World in Conflict

    World in Conflict

Ola Strandh lends his hand to this tactical RTS game. With a more modern setting, this game brings your focus on your units and objectives, rather than base building for a more emotional connection. Strandh uses this idea to create a soundtrack that pulls more at the heart strings and stage-setting than traditional bombastic titles. Does it succeed?

A true love for the medium

Both Mike and Jon have a passion for video game music and it’s abundantly clear. I enjoy discovering new soundtracks through them and hearing their opinions on some of my favorite old titles like Heroes of Might and Magic!

Also, their dedication to showing appreciation to the artists by giving album purchase information and contact info when possible is commendable. It really shows support for the artists.

Great Concept

As someone who enjoys music in cinema, iv never really considered how important music is across all entertainment/media platforms. Very thoughtful and mellow. Very in depth well paced with many many examples of music. I think I’m going to have to look for my “Killer Instinct” soundtrack from SNES, only available if you bought the killer instinct snes bundle.

Very cool and unique podcast! The host has an incredibly impressive depth of knowledge about the two things that come together in a special way in this podcast: video games and music. Great way to experience the music of some of your favorite games or to be exposed to new games for the first time. The production quality is solid and the preperation is very clear and yet the host does an excellent job of making it sound conversational and not scripted. Highly recommend!
