Knowing your preferred VAK learning style

Knowing your preferred VAK learning style

Ep 50, In this weeks episode, we talk about the learning styles of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
If you are visual you might prefer to see handouts, read, take colorful notes, and doodle during class.
If you lean toward auditory then you learn well from lectures, talking about the material, podcasts, and audiobooks.
If you are a kinesthetic learner then you like to get your hands dirty, experiment, actually do something physical with the material - maybe a field trip or museum visit to really immerse yourself in the information.
The way you learn is paramount to understand as the governments begin to decide on Fall campus openings. If you know how you learn then you can accommodate your studying and such to that strength specifically.
Your response to the quarantine will have longterm implications on your future. There is a ton of uncertainty in the country and world right now. You can always count on yourself though. You can be certain that if you acquire the right tools and if you keep motivated and disciplined then your best will rise to the surface.
You can't be certain of the outcome but you can be certain of your effort.

The First Year Experience w/ Jessica Cerda

The First Year Experience w/ Jessica Cerda

Ep #47 - In this week's episode, I welcome Los Angeles City College's First-Year Experience program director Jessica Cerda to the show. We discuss how to manage your time, handle the stressors college inevitably heaps upon you, and how, no matter the campus, there is help and assistance in the form of: counselors, therapists, advisors, etc. available to guide you through the maze that is the college experience.
While this was recorded before the novel coronavirus and subsequent quarantine took over our society, I still think what Jessica talks about is relevant as there are tens of thousands of high school students about to embark on the amazing journey that is college. There are equally as many students that have had their first year experiences halted as it was just gaining momentum - and I think all of you in the early stages of your university life will have some massive catching up to do when the schools reopen in the fall (fingers-crossed.)
Here's my best wishes that all of you make it through this healthy and without the loss of a loved one. Be ready for next semester because things will return to some semblance of normalcy at some point and you want to have momentum in hand rather than starting from a stand still.
Thank you so much for listening and being a part of this community. I truly appreciate your support.

Your emotional maturity is your responsibility now

Your emotional maturity is your responsibility now

Ep #46 - In this week's episode, we will discuss emotional maturity and how you are in charge of your emotional growth just like you are in charge of your physical and mental growth (you know, working out and studying.)
Emotional Maturity is the ability to take responsibility for your actions and to not blame others for your problems, the situations you find yourself in, and the general world around you.
Immaturity shows itself in the way people react to their: circumstances, thoughts, feelings, actions, results, situations, and things in general.
Your maturity-level will influence the movies you watch, the words you use, the lifestyle choices you make, the emotions you express (and how and when you express them,) the causes you support, and the way you manage your health, relationships, career, finances - and everything else under the sun.
Click play right now and let's start your emotional-growth journey today, together.

Great information and fun to listen to!

Jesse is very engaging, has a lot of information and makes the episodes so enjoyable to listen to. He’s also a great interviewer. I really enjoyed the episode about the first year experience because I help high school seniors transition to college, as a coach.

Love

I love listening to Jessie, weather I’m at home or even at work, I like listening to him. He has some great ideas, the first episode I listened to, (im not sure the title of that specific episode) but he talked about creators, traditionalists and rebels. I was intrigued by his interesting ideas, from there on I kept listening to more episodes. He has very clear and straightforward motivational ideas. He’s so smart, and everything he says can be put to use. His voice is nice, he’s funny and gives a comfortable/relatable vibe. He puts himself in the listeners position and makes sure we can follow his ideas throughout the podcast. I really like listening to him! My go to these days. I hope he makes more episodes soon!!

Exactly what I needed to hear

I woke up Monday morning to a room full of clutter and 28 homework assignments due on Tuesday. That’s right. 28. I wasn’t like this in high school but since I’ve went to college I have lost all motivation. I searched college in the bar and I’m so glad to have found this. It’s everything I needed to hear. Thank you!
