Episode 21: Hannah and Will - Finding Joy In Community

Episode 21: Hannah and Will - Finding Joy In Community

In today’s conversation I sat down with Hannah Bosma and Will Mitchell to talk about International Youth Forum and Spectacular which are camps held in Independence, Missouri and Lamoni, Iowa. We were all fairly exhausted by the time we got off the bus in Chicago, and after two weeks of travelling and camp we were starting to get a little sick as well. We recorded in the basement of a church that was kind enough to provide some space to lay out our sleeping bags. IYF and Spec were amazing experiences for me as well but I was more curious about Will and Hannah’s perspectives. So lets jump into the conversation.

Episode 17: Brian Carwana - World Religions and The Importance Of The Experience

Episode 17: Brian Carwana - World Religions and The Importance Of The Experience

Before we get started… I just wanted to let you all know that we have an awesome opportunity coming up on the weekend of May 4th-6th. Myself and the team I work with are in development of a retreat focused on helping you find more meaning and purpose in your life. We would love to hear what sort of activities or topics would help you on this journey we call life. So, if you have any suggestions, please email the podcast at theconvoplace@gmail.com. We honestly would love to hear your thoughts. More details, like where and what to expect will be coming in the next episode. Until then, hang tight and send us your ideas. We figure it’s probably best not to assume what’s best for you.

Now, in today’s conversation I had the opportunity to sit down with Brian Carwana who is the director of Encounter World Religions. I feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to pick at the vast knowledge Brian has on the multiple religions of the world. Brian shares about how the Sikh community has impacted him and we go on to talk more about other religions such as Islam, Taoism, the Rastafari tradition, Hinduism, and a few others. We also talk about how important experience is to knowledge and the formation of identity and perspective. I can’t thank Brian enough for taking the time to chat with me. I learned a lot from our conversation and I would love to hear what you learned as well. So lets jump into the conversation.
