Timeless wisdom

I used to think it uncanny how the Daily Stoic has just the right message at just the right time in my life.
But then I finally realized this wisdom is always the right message all the time. Daily stoic, daily meditation, daily walks. My top 3 tasks every day. Thank you for bringing the timeless wisdom to me.

Good but declining

Used to enjoy this podcast but seems like more of it is annoying/fake ads and the interviews aren’t as interesting. Same with his other podcast, just different topics. Interviews seem to go on a weird tangent about writing or some other boring topic that he finds interesting. Not much education on stoicism either. Every now and then he has a really good interview

Amazing episode

I have been listening to this podcast for a few years. This is one of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever heard. Not just for this show but over all other podcasts. Ryan’s interview with Keita Bates was so inspirational.

I made some major life changes this past year. Quit my job, moved to a new state. I am struggling to establish myself in this new region but am viewing some present setbacks as part of my overall goal to improve my life. Marathon, not a sprint.

I was a bit depressed the morning I heard this, reflecting on the aftermath of some stupid decisions I made. In a way, these stupid actions / decisions did spur on my new life but I also have to deal with the aftermath and this has affected my career.

Keita Bates and Ryan Holiday discuss humility, teamwork, and rejecting instant gratification in favor of a more peaceful - all life against the backdrop of basketball and sports. I’ve never played on a sports team in my life, but I understood what they meant. I am part of a law firm where the owner is really into sports and I see more of what he is talking about when he says he wants a cohesive team at work. I also see that my setbacks are a chance for me to be in a position to develop and rehabilitate myself. I’m on a “d-team” but this is a positive since I have breathing room to grow as an attorney.

I took a screenshot of the episode (I’m Gen X, not a techie) so I can remember the title and listen to this talk again and again.

I joined the daily stoic about a month ago. I can’t read all the daily emails but have learned to get what I can, when I can. I try to read a few pages of Meditations each day.

I know I have improved my outlook simply because I’m not as upset and overwrought as I used to be. it’s not all stoicism, but this podcast helps me a lot.

I nightly recommend Ryan’s work. His work has soothed my troubled mind and has caused me to delve deeper into stoicism.

Take care!
