What is going on with these ads?
Recently, I’ve noticed that many of the ads at the top of the episodes sound like straightforward propaganda for oil companies, oil lobbies, and big Pharma. They’re often couched in language that might make their message more appealing to left-leaning listeners. For example, one ad for what I understand is an oil lobby talks about the importance of “reliable energy” and only carefully and slowly investing in alternative energy. I’ve listened to The Daily for years and subscribe to the NYT. I find these ads to be out of line with how the Times seems to portray itself. Are there really not advertisers the NYT could find other than a literal oil lobby?
Denzel

He clearly did not want to be interviewed…. What a pity because he came off so rude and annoying. I was ready to learn more about him and find some good nuggets he shared. I had to turn it off 15 min in. The interviewer was doing great but Denzel was responding horrifically. Not even remotely funny even if he thought he was trying.
The Denzel Washington interview was one of my favourites. It was so uncomfortable and profound.

At first I found it annoying, then it was like listening to a combative, almost romantic, tryst between lovers. In an attempt to get their partner to open up the interviewer succumbs to their deflections and answers their questions. I loved the tension. Denzel is obviously as opaque to us as he is to himself.
Sunday Read Distractions
This review only pertains to the Sunday Read. I find the stories interesting but I am distracted by the dramatic narration and music and find it difficult to follow along. The music is eclectic, not vibing with the story content or narration. The music is also too loud, competing with the reader. I try to listen to these stories but can’t comprehend the content. Maybe the problem is just me.
