I imagine you all have; even if you hate his music you probably know a few songs, but we’re not here to talk about his music… We aren’t here to discuss his offense against Taylor Swift or his divorce with Kim Kardashian, either; hell, we aren’t even here to discuss him— not really. Today, our focus is on Kanye Quest 3030, one of the greatest ARG’s of its time… Or was it? Part of what made it so successful is the genuine inability to tell if you were playing a game or if you had accidentally stumbled onto some dangerous cult’s recruitment tool.

Eternal Darkness is a revolving door in time, carefully designed to bring all the most significant aspects of horror together in one neatly wrapped - and damn-near-perfect - package of terror. Even its name was chosen to encompass what we all - consciously or subconsciously - fear most: The Eternal Darkness… Think about that; we have a primal fear of the dark– of the unknown - from birth, and it never truly fades. We learn to live with it, but from the earliest days of our ancestors, we - as a species - have strived to defeat it - to push it far away with fire and our ever-evolving command of electricity… But it’s always there.

As humanity evolves and grows, so does our range of abilities to tell stories. From our ancestors huddled around the campfire telling terrifying experiences to scare impressionable young children away from the darkness. A place where powerful predators lay in wait, to cautionary tales of what happens when we stray from the right path. 

As time passed, our stories went from purely verbal to written in influential novels, performed on the stage, heard on the radio waves, experienced on the big screen, and, eventually, into our homes where we surf the web and play our video games.

That is the purpose of this new show, to showcase some of the darker stories within the gaming community, the mythos behind our favorite games, and the links to real-world horrors so many of them inhabit. 

My name is Chelsea Rebecca; I am the co-host of the Dead Meat Podcast, a horror fan, and a gaming lover. I’m fascinated by the how and why behind all horror media, and tonight, I invite you to get comfy, stay alert and prepare to embark on a journey into The Dark Side Of Gaming.
