The Diarist is a psychological drama exploring the alluring side of power and sexual attraction. Andrea Davies hopefully enters the paradoxical world of 1950s womanhood but she soon veers into an increasingly menacing extramarital affair with Richard Hayes, a dominant ad executive. However, the Diarist is no 50 shades of gray, more like a Hitchcock Love Story with a dose of David Lynch. The story starts innocently enough but soon turns bizarre as the inner worlds of the characters are revealed. The Diarist immerses listeners into the 1950s world of Madison Avenue advertising. Secrets are exposed, darkness descends, and for Andrea all roads appear to lead to a harrowing fate.

It's definitely something

I started listening to this because my name is Andrea and while it was well done, I'm so glad I've finished the season. It was just impossible to like these characters and it was painful to listen to a lot of the time.

Infuriatingly good

Duuuude I am obsessed with this show! The music and the writing are absolutely pristine. The main characters are so loathsome that sometimes it can be hard to listen without wanting to cuss out a wall, but that’s a testament to how effective the writing is. I’m recommending it to everyone! (Also, how psycho is the person who left the “In love with Richard” review?!)

In love with Richard

I was born in the 60’s, but love the life of Andrea. I have listened to the 1st season and here is my thinking. Richard need a strong woman like me to tell him No. Richard would do what I say. I loved Richard and Andrea voice. I was thinking this is some S & M sex, and Andrea could not handle it. She was so in love with Richard that she did what he said. When your young you don’t know better, and how old is Richard? I was at work listening to the show and my emotions were up and down. I never write reviews but had to this time.
