Ep 105 – PS5, Shipping Delays, and More

Ep 105 – PS5, Shipping Delays, and More

Episode 105. Recorded April 17th, 2021. Featuring Mike, CJ, and Andrew talking about PS5 thoughts (after having one for a bit), Shipping delays, new games, etc. It’s been months since we managed to record again and I’m (Andrew) really glad we did. This has been a passion project of mine since it started with Mike about 7 years ago, and it’s just something I’ve always really enjoyed.

As we get back onto normal ground and regularity with our (mostly Andrew’s) lives, expect to see more content. Twitch streams, YouTube, Podcasts, etc.

Ep 104 – The Last of Us Part 2 Review (Spoilers!)

Ep 104 – The Last of Us Part 2 Review (Spoilers!)

Episode 104. July 6th, 2020. SPOILER ALERT! We are going to talk about our experiences playing The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4. We are not avoiding anything so if you haven’t played the game yet, or are still working through it you probably want to hold off on this episode.

I start the episode with an important notice (around 3-4min in): I don’t care what your feeling/opinion is on a video game (or any creative media), threatening violence against the actors, creators, and developers is just unacceptable. Be better. We talk about a lot of themes in the games, our feelings as we played through it. What we liked, and what we thought could’ve been better. Ultimately, we all enjoyed the games and have somewhat different feelings on the ending and characters. The discussion of Abby vs. Ellie is important, and I think Naughty Dog did a great job with this game. That said, there is a lot of discussion happening on the internet right now, and its a good thing. We should be having tough conversations about games and perspective and viewing things through different lenses. It matters.

Let us know what you think of the game, your thoughts and feelings from TLoU 1 to Part 2, and anything else you’d like to. Tweet us @thedgcast and let us know.As always, we will catch you on the flip.Mike, Andrew, and CJ, The Disconnected Gamers Podcast

Ep 103 – Still Living in Coronaland

Ep 103 – Still Living in Coronaland

Episode 103. May 23rd, 2020. Mike, CJ, and Andrew re-convene to chat about life and gaming, heavily focusing on the “disconnected” part of TheDGCast. Not a ton to discuss as we’re all doing different things as of late and the summer always ends up being a slow time for the gaming cycle. Biggest things still coming down the pipeline are TLoU 2, Cyberpunk, and Ghost of Tsushima (not to be confused with Sushis and Sashimis by the way).

That said, still a fun episode to catch up and just chat about gaming and life and stuff. Hope you’re all doing well yourselves out there, and keeping busy as you can and staying safe and healthy.

Cheers,Andrew, Mike, and CJ, the Disconnected Gamers Podcast

    Ep 102 - Catching Up & TLoU 2

    Ep 102 - Catching Up & TLoU 2

Episode 102. May 3rd, 2020.*Editor’s Note: There were some audio issues with Andrew’s recording and so he sometimes sounds like a robot and the volume isn’t balanced well. We’re hoping this is a one-off with the recording and that future episodes won’t end up like this.

We reconvene after a whole ordeal of things. Who knew that Coronavirus would end up causing a delay in podcast, more because of scheduling and job situations. Such is life. That said, Mike, CJ and Andrew get together and chat about what is a big topic to all of them, The Last of Us 2.

If you didn’t already know, TLoU 2 was supposed to be playable at PAX East 2020, and Sony pulled out at the last minute due to coronavirus concerns. PAX East went off without a hitch, but as things got worse, more conventions and events were delayed, TLoU 2 was also delayed from it’s original release date.

Fast forward and hackers release alleged footage of the game, leaks (we aren’t posting links because none of us wanted to review or see the leaks and we’d rather you didn’t spoil it either) and other information arises about it. Then, Sony in an interesting move (or I suppose it was Naughty Dog who likely made the decision) announces an official release date, of June 19th, 2020. It was originally May and then got pushed back to an undetermined date.

We talk about theories and the whole situation, given that coronavirus has disrupted so much of our daily lives. It’s a bummer that such an anticipated game gets leaked or hacked and put out into the wild, but this is the current world we are living in.

    Ep 100 – Post PAX-East 2020 Recap

    Ep 100 – Post PAX-East 2020 Recap

Episode 100. Really. One Hundo. Neat. March 7th(?), 2020.

Essentially this episode is Andrew running the show talking about the games he played and experiences he had at PAX East 2020 recently. Obviously Episode 99 was all nostalgia about The Last of Us, and as you know Sony backed out of the convention at the last minute due to coronavirus concerns. That said, still a great show though a different vibe.

    Games/Stuff Andrew saw and talked about on the show:Sky Racket – Double Dash Studios – https://www.skyracket.com (Steam)Bonfire Peaks – Corey Martin – https://coreymartin.itch.io/bonfire-peaks (Steam)The Falconer – Tomas Sala – https://www.thefalconeer.com (Steam)Knights of the Hound Table – https://www.facebook.com/knightshoundtable/ (Card Game)The GameHers – Community for Women Gamers – https://thegamehers.com (community)

A lot of stuff was discussed in this episode, so we’re sorry it wasn’t a total fanfare about the 100th episode. But we truly appreciate all of you that come out and listen to our podcast because it means the world to us. Thanks so much everyone.

Doesn't seem very interesting.

I thought this was supposed to be a gaming podcast, but the first 20+ minutes was 100% about making a youtube video? Besides, who doesn't already know how to do that?
