Purgatorio VI: Are French Fries Thicc?

Purgatorio VI: Are French Fries Thicc?

Slangquiz: should “thicc” be a word used to describe french fries? Sordello and Virgil are from Mantua, and the Empire and the Church are tearing apart Italy. But more importantly, is the letter “O” that shape because your mouth looks like an “O” when you say “O?” “Listeners,” we love you.

Purgatorio IV: Living Under a Rock (Literally)

The late repentant are kind of boring, but Belacqua lazes around under a boulder like the lazy purgatorial baller that he is. Dante continues to be obsessed with geography.

Musa & Sinclair translations side-by-side reader

Since last fall (I took a very long break) I’ve been reading the Sinclair, Musa, and Mandelbaum translations side by side, one canto at a time. Meanwhile, every few days, I’ve been searching terms like “Dante Alighieri,” “Dante canto,” and “Dante Purgatorio” to find every Dante-focused podcast in the Apple Podcasts library. (“Dante’s History,” “Walking With Dante,” “Alessia’s Divine Comedy,” Mark Vernon’s Dante podcast, and the Leeds Dante podcast are all great.) It wasn’t until yesterday that I finally got the idea to search “Dante Divine,” and that’s how I found your podcast! I’m only 5 minutes into the first episode, but you’ve already stated that you’re reading the Musa and Sinclair translations, so I feel like this is perfect for me. I’m already at Purgatorio 22, but I’ll be sure to keep listening!
