Episode 35: Fear, Frustration, and Aggression from a different perspective
When a dog reacts out of fear or frustration--even aggression, things can escalate fast! Some reactions can really interfere with a dog's life and ability to leave the house.
Today's guest, trainer Grisha Stewart, specializes in these issues and has created a system called BAT -- Behavior Adjustment Training, and now BAT 2.0. We talk with her about her philosophy and approach to helps dogs readjust to triggers and start to respond from a sense of safety rather than threat.
(Puppy Update: I just realized I didn't give a puppy update in the audio intro! Oops. For those who follow DK on Instagram or FB, you can find the news there. For those who only listen to the podcast, my puppy was born in a litter of 8. 4 boys, only one of them brown. So most likely I will end up with a black male. I'm fine with that, but if I get lucky enough to get the brown one, I won't mind at all!)

BAT Overview — An Overview of BAT from Grisha's website.
I found this podcast when considering getting a goldendoodle to raise and train as a service dog. It is full of wonderful information with really interesting guests (especially love the interviews with long time people so full of wisdom interacting with the newer world of doodles). I’ve had and competed with dogs for many years, yet still have learned a ton! The episodes are also very well done. I’ve really enjoyed each one I’ve listened to.
New doodle owner learning a lot!
I learned about this podcast through a Facebook group I joined right around the time we got our 5 month old Labradoodle puppy. There is so much good information in the handful of episodes I’ve listened to so far. We have 2 older dogs as well (both mostly unknown mix breeds) and the information is applicable to dog owners in general as well.
Mark my words! DO NOT LISTEN! I am getting a new dog soon, and I still haven’t learned one useful thing. The hosts don’t really have personality and the guests are not the best choices. This podcast was a waste of my time.
