Addressing the hard stuff

Love this show and Dr. Delony. Everyone should listen to this. We need eliminate the stigma around mental health and counseling. No matter what stage of life you’re in, everyone can benefit from a good counselor and I think Delony has presented counseling in a positive light to so many! Straight forward, no tip toeing around hard questions or topics. So, so good.

Started strong, but really starting to slip

I found the podcast in its early days and was immediately hooked. I though John was funny, down to earth, and really took the time to understand each caller and guide them towards a more hopeful path, while at the same time, giving great advice that the listener could take away and apply to their own life. In more recent months though, I’ve found the quality of this show has gone down drastically. He has become belittling towards many callers, and often sounds annoyed when they tell him something he doesn’t like. It has become very obvious that he has certain biases, and seems less understanding when someone has a conflict that challenges his ideals. When someone does call about a subject that he is interested in, I feel like I’m listening to two high school girls gossiping in the bathroom, and now find myself turning the episodes off mid show. Such a disappointment, because I used to binge this show and couldn’t get enough of it, but the quality of advice has gone down hill so quickly. I’ll still tune in from time to time, because he does still offer some good insight on things occasionally, but I definitely no longer have high expectations.
